This Is A Confusing Place
I'm sure there's a rhyme and reason to these forums but I haven't found them yet. Very nice people respond to posts and give lists if @....members but when you click on those you find comments that have nothing to do with your issues. Notifications of posts are also none related. I apparently have a lot to learn if I don't get frustrated and leave first.

Hi @kwilbur, you are receiving emails about caregiving issues because you posted a (lovely) message in a discussion in the Caregiver group. If you no longer wish to receive emails related to the caregiving discussion, simply click "Unsubscribe from this discussion thread" in the next email notice you receive.
@smann68 I can imagine that you're over run with email notifications as you are following many groups. Once you get a feel for which groups interest you the most, you might consider "unfollowing" the other groups to reduce the number of emails you receive.
Thank you everyone for your feedback.
The redesign of Mayo Clinic Connect is in full swing. The community was first started in 2011, so it was definitely time for a makeover. We didn't want to shut down the community during our renovations, so we are following "agile design" principles and updating new features while keeping the community open.
Many of you have mentioned the inundation of email notices that you receive. We recognize that this is an issue. Improving the amount and type of notices you receive is under review and scheduled as an upcoming improvement update this year. It is interesting to note that this recognized problem is actually a result of the community's success. Odd but true. The notification system was first developed when there was little activity on Connect. Now with ever increasing activity and growing membership, there is a need to streamline the not only the number of emails you receive, but also make them more relevant to you.
In the coming weeks, I will be reaching out to members to gather your feedback about your experience on Connect, so that we can make it better for the community. If you would like to participate in our member feedback interviews, please send me a private message.
Here's how to send private message.
1. Click the member's @username.
2. Click the envelope icon in their profile.
3. Write a subject and your message.
4. Click Send Message.
Or you can write to me using this form: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/contact-a-community-moderator/
Colleen you just sent me 5 of the same messages again - just like last time - thought you might like to know!!
Trouble43443, I appreciate your reporting the issue. I did post 5 separate messages to this discussion in a short period of time (about an hour ago), but they were different messages addressing specific questions. Did you receive 5 different messages or 5 identical messages? If identical, then I'll get IT Support to investigate.
Did anyone else experience receiving multiple copies of the exact same message?
My error - they were different messages, but they were not all directed to me, so I am not sure what to tell you.
I am in agreement with the majority (no just the ones who make noise) that something must be done. I read
the messages so fast (and then feel guilty later) actually I just check the first line. I haven't had time to sit down
and really read the information you have given us, That will come tomorrow.
Dorothy
If I can help with feedback, feel free to ask.
Just wanted to give you an example of non related e-mails. I just checked my e-mail and there's a notice about a member by the name of clemlaa who commented on a book she read about diet in a forum titled Specific Carbohydrate Diet. News to me. I've never been to that discussion, I've never exchanged posts with a clemlaa...basically it's just something out of the blue for no reason I can surmise. Found it especially surprising as I went into my settings yesterday and pretty much unfollowed everything. Thought I'd try just manually going in and checking forums at my leisure instead of being swamped with too much to have to deal with on a constant basis.
I like the feature in the notices/emails that start with @xxxx LIKED or MENTIONED YOU. Very helpful in triaging responses and separating some of the wheat from the chaff.
Any chance for a flag or other indicator when the message contains your name as opposed to just a 'like'? Might ease the perceptions of the flow.
Good example Cahnny. This was a message you were @mentioned in. We were pointing Clemlaa to your post about Squatty Potty, thinking that it would be beneficial for her. You received a notification that you're mentioned for 2 reasons:
1. We don't want to talk about you with you knowing about it 🙂
2. Should you wish to join or add something to the discussion, this brings you directly to it. No obligation to join if it doesn't relate to your experience.
I'm sending you a private message now, so that we can schedule a meeting to discuss. I look forward to your feedback.
