Is Mayo accepting Medicare patients at this time?

It’s rumored that they have put a hold on accepting new Medicare pts. Does anyone know if this is true? I’ve been advised to go to Mayo for my post Cardiac Arrest heart health. It’s looking like heart failure and my Cardiologist wants me to go to Mayo.

My Cardiologist sent a referral last week. I haven’t heard anything from them. My heart may not make it in time to get fixed. Is there anything I can do to get Mayos attention soon?

@amylz, you can contact Mayo Clinic to ask about the status of your referral. See the phone numbers for each location listed here: http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

@hjeff, I’m sorry to hear that you are have not been able to get an appointment with a neurologist. It sounds like you’ve taken the appropriate steps to seek care at Mayo Clinic. There may be several reasons that an appointment was not available. Over the last few years, Mayo Clinic has experienced unusually high demand for appointments, which has exceeded the capacity (appointments available). Or after reviewing your case, Mayo's physician experts may have determined that Mayo Clinic cannot offer any further treatment different from that you are already receiving.

Neurology is a large practice area. May I ask which condition you are requesting an appointment for? Did you submit the referral or did your doctor submit the referral?

No one has reviewed my case. I have been calling on my own for an appointment, I could get my doctors referral if it would help. My condition is peripheral neuropathy.
