Is it necessary to remove basal cell via Mohs? What are alternatives?
Was dx with basal cell on tip of nose. Derm wants to do Mohs surgery with nose reconstruction which will alter my nose. I am 78 and do not want to do this. Any suggestions?

I too had skin cancer surgery in which I thought the surgeon botched the job. It was on my arm and there is a deep indentation on my arm, and they kept messing with it while trying to close up the cut. I had the sense the surgeon was rushed and he had appalling bedside manner, gruff and disinterested in any thing I said. Like you, live in a small town with little choice. The only other dermatology practice could not see me soon, but they are affiliated with a practice in a town 30 miles away. Truth is, if I still lived in the big city I might be 30 miles from the doctor anyway. 30 miles on open highway is easier and faster than the same distance in city traffic.
