Anyone use Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for stroke recovery or PMR?
I had a ischemic stroke about two years ago and have been improving but I'm looking for a greater improvement. It has been suggested that hyperbaric oxygen therapy helps stroke victims and I find some information on the Internet saying that it can offer significant improvements. However, my primary care physician says it won't help and my rehab doctor says that her patients that have tried it found no improvement. I am interested any opinions of anyone who has tried it as to whether you felt it was beneficial or not. I'm considering a 40 hour course at 2 atmospheres.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) has been mentioned in this discussion a few times but I'm not sure if anyone with PMR has used it to successfully help manage their symptoms.

There is some research on HBOT helping with related conditions.
"Conclusions: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is effective for joint pain in patients with RA based on data from multiple, validated clinical measures. Further research with more subjects and the use of a control group is necessary."

Good luck.
