Does COVID brain fog go away on its own?

Posted by auntb65 @auntb65, Dec 16, 2022

Just curious if anyone has had their brain fog/dizziness go away on its own. I was hospitalized in November 2021 for a week. Thankfully all my other symptoms have gone away except the brain fog/dizziness. I really hate to think I’m stuck with this. I’ve tried everything I can think of-PT, visits to ENT/neurologist. I read this blog daily and have tried many of the suggestions you all give. (Thank you by the way). Im so tired of hearing “Your test results are normal”.
At the same time, I’m so thankful my other symptoms have cleared up. Hoping you all get relief soon!!

I had Covid on December 2020 and I still get Brain Fog, specially if I'm extremely tired and have a lot of things to do. I have to write everything down and do one thing at the time, I can't work as I used to because I forget everything and get distracted, I space out constantly and have other people repeating themselves. Has anyone gone through something like that?

Those are my issues as well. I also have a feeling of having a low vibrational hum passing through my body. It keeps me awake at night! At first, I only noticed it at night and for months I thought it was something external and I wracked my brain to try and figure out what was causing it-first I thought maybe it was my Sleep Number bed, either the sensors or the magnets etc. then I went out of town and still felt it so I knew it wasn’t the bed. So then I even wondered if it was some kind of earthquake or something! lol then I was reading comments on a Facebook and someone mentioned having these from Covid and I was thinking oh my God! That’s what it is! Since then I noticed that I have them 24/7, I just don’t notice it during the day as much. It gets worse when I am tired or stressed. I haven’t found anything that helps. I have the same brain fog stuff as you do! I’ve always had a great memory. It’s awful!

My dizziness is so bad at times that I can’t speak out to my husband for help if I’m walking or in the kitchen. My head feels as though it spins quickly, my vision goes away… all the symptoms go away in less than a minute but not dizziness.
I’m not able to drive or do housework like I used to do. Thank goodness for my wonderful husband.
My doctor says Covid long haul symptoms take time and I need to adjust my life.
My taste, appetite and problems sleeping have improved.
I’m thankful for the Mayo Clinic Connect Support Group… knowing I’m not alone.

My heart goes out to you. Dizziness is horrible. Gez Medinger is a Covid long hauler that has a you tube channel. He has invaluable information about Covid and many videos with medical professionals. He also has come out with a Covid Handbook with lots of resources. You may have problems reading because of your dizziness but perhaps your husband may be able to look it up and you can listen to the videos. I don’t have long covid but my 79 year old husband does and is a challenge. I’m determined to find as much info as I can to help him deal with this condition. Good luck.
