How do you deal with aging?
How do you emotionally handle aging and knowing that you only have a limited number of years left in your life? I'm turning 80 years old in 5 months, am in quite good health, work fulltime, and am incredibly grateful for the life I have. But, I find myself obsessed with the thought that I only have "x" amount of years left in my life. I've never figured out how to live one day at a time. Any suggestions from those of you around my age or older would be SO appreciated! (I'm "kind of" spiritual, but not really religious so that's not something that seems to help with my fear.)

I love them all but this one!!!
To Be In Awe: wisdom from a 96 year old
Oh my gosh, you cannot imagine how much I appreciate your
comments! I feel as if you & I could meet in person and never run out of things to discuss.
I don’t know if this forum allows private correspondence, but if it does I’d be more than happy to give you my personal email. SO much has happened with our family just the past 6 months that I’m honestly in the midst of the first stage of grief —denial. It’s extra confusing because I’m very pragmatic & absolutely not in denial about any of it.
My email is patcrowe67@gmail.com if you want to correspond directly. (Hopefully this forum allows me to even share this.) I’m really looking forward to further “talks” with you! 🙂
HI Pat,
Thanks for your kind note and for providing your email address. I sent you mine in a private message. Let me know if you are able to retrieve it or not.
Talk soon,
Gail
Hi Gail,
I’m not able to find your message with your email address.😢

Pat, try clicking on my name and see if you can find the message there. You will see "Send a Private Message." That's how I sent you one...I've never sent or received one so not sure where you'll to to see it. But try that next step.
Ah I see you found it!! Just received your email!
I take one day at a time,
i don't think about it and I don't let age define me.
I think people have a certain idea of what people should or shouldn't be doing because they are of a certain age. I feel we are the only ones to decide how we want to live our lives.
Age and aging is often looked at in a negative light. Unfortunate. It is a blessing. And yes, our bodies are changing and we deal with that. Our spirit, energy does not have to. They are things we can do to fully live each and
every day.
Absolutely agree! I have always felt the same way. I am a 65 year old woman and I feel great!
I think if we just ignore the number and just live our best lives we are fine!
You definitely get it!
