I may be oversimplifying it, but after being diagnosed with ET my doctor wanted to check for mutations or variants. A CALR type 2 mutation was detected but, fortunately, no JAK2 or MPL mutations.

If you’re relatively new to your ET diagnosis you probably have a lot of questions and concerns. Sometimes it helps to be able can talk it through with others who are going through the same thing.
There’s a strong ET support group in Connect with other members who have also been diagnosed with this blood condition where the body makes too many platelets. I’ll post a like below get you started:
