Mixing & matching nebulizer & compressor parts

Has anyone had any experience with mixing and matching nebulizer & compressor parts. Although my old system, which was a Pari vios with a Vyaire misty max cup and spacer seemed to do okay, it mostly seemed to leave more mucus than I thought it should. It did clear out some most of the time but still seemed like there was more. And yes I did always do the Areobika after as recommended. It would take me about 1 hour. I then researched other compressors. and found the Ombra which has a slightly higher psi rating. (19 to 18) which I believe would help force the medication a little deeper into the lungs. Am I right? I still use the Vyaire misty max cup for the albuterol first, then go to the recipe cup for the 7% saline. The great thing is you can attach the Areobika directly to the step lips and do both at the same time. It decreases my time 15 -20 mins. Any comments or recommendations are welcome.

I am in Australia and use a Philips nebuliser along with the Aerobika at the same time. It works well.

It’s supposed to be the AreoEclipse XL cup. for 7%.

The only time I paid attention was when I was on inhaled Tobramycin; they recommended the Big Green Machine (Pari Vios) with a specific cup but I don't remember the one because it was 6 years ago. Now I use the Pari Sprint or the reusable generic with my PariVios, my daughter's PariTrek (when we travel together) or my DeVilbiss Traveler.
I use the Big Green Machine, even though it's big and loud, when I have an exacerbation (or feel one coming) - it puts the meds deeper into my lungs.

The two pictures Sue: One is the Pari LC Plus (not sprint) and it is the one they recommend to use with Toby along with the Pro Neb Max compressor. But what is the other picture of?

a reusable generic one I buy from a local medical supply house in 5 packs. Also available on line.

That's interesting that you say the Big Green Machine puts the meds deeper into your lungs. I've been assuming that any compressor that is creating significant mist is fine, and it's the breathing in that puts it into the lungs. Does the mist come out with more force?

I notice a definite difference in the force of the saline mist with different compressors. The Pari Pro Neb Max for instance produces a stronger output than the Pari Vios (green machine). The Ombra produces a stronger output also but not quite as strong as the Pro Neb Max. Also the Pro Neb Max is designed to be run for longer periods of time. So if you nebulize 8 ml instead of 4 ml it does not over heat. And using it twice a day is not an issue whereas the Pari Vios seems to malfunction if used twice a day over a period of time.

I have noticed that using different cups produces different output for me. I only use Ombra compressor now (I am new to the diagnosis, so didn’t try many things yet). When I use Aeroeclipse breath actuated (or not), of course it takes more time but I don’t feel any discomfort. When I use Pari Sprint, I pause the compressor every few seconds to let my throat rest as it irritates my throat, and probably that’s why I produce more mucus (which is a good thing but at the cost of discomfort to the throat).
