Mycophenolate discontinued after CMV reoccurrence

Posted by Smiles @preetismiles, Aug 22, 2024

Hi, I have just completed 4 months of my liver transplant and was on Tacrolimus 3 mg daily & Mycophenolate 1000 mg daily. Since CMV infection reoccurrence happen twice so doctor has advices to stop Mycophenolate completely. Does anyone has experience of early stop of Mycophenolate and how was their experience?

I am sure the Dr knows what he is doing, perhaps the # of viral copies of CMV are significant to make him take that approach, also did the WBC count must have experienced a steep decline. .. which you can look in the CBC diff test results... Wish you the Best.

I had to stop it as well due to cmv but after five months they are slowly starting me on it again and I've had issues - I am six month post transplant - congratulations to you'

Good morning
Im almost 4 years post liver transplant, and have been off mycophenolate for geez 3 1/2 years. My WBC was almost non-existent and they took me off the mycophenolate. I have had no issues (fingers crossed 🤞) and have maintained my TAC trough consistently at 4 for the last 3 1/2 years. Good luck with your journey, and never forget your Dr's know what's best for you. 💛💛💛💛
