I took 10 mg pepcid once a day and it did not seem to interfere with antibiotic Amoxicillan/Clav and it was recommended by my Dr. It's a histamine blocker not an antacid
Are you taking a probiotic?
That is definitely recommended. I take California Gold Lactobif 30 which has 8 different strains. Make sure you leave time between when you take the antibiotics and the probiotic (from what I have read at least 4 hours). I take the Azithromycin and Ethambutol in the morning after breakfast so I can take my probiotic at 12 noon and the Rifampin (on an empty stomach) at 9pm before I go to bed. Even though I started the probiotic when I started the antibiotics I still had nausea the first few weeks.
I purchased Sea Band Accupressure Wrist Bands and they definitely worked for me. Fortunately, after about 3 weeks the nausea went away. Hope you find something that works for you or adjust to the meds before too long. Best wishes.
When I was on the antibiotics, I was very successful using ginger - Ginger tea, Ginger beer made with real ginger and Ginger chews or hard candies. Also, it helped to never have my stomach be completely empty - tiny meals throughout the day helped a lot. It also helped maintain my weight as I had no appetite.
Try boil ginger with water for 12 mins - it eases my nausea. My nausea once a day started after 3 weeks taking antibiotics. So far it is does not get worse.

Helen. When I started antibiotics the ID doctor said to take them late evening or at night to sleep over possible nausea. Since the beginning I take ethambutol (only three times a week) and clofazimine with dinner around 7 pm and then at 9pm azythromycin with something really small such as a piece of toast or some applesauce. If I take it just with water on an empty stomach I have stomachache. And yes ever night I slice ginger and either pour boiling water on it because I am exhausted ( no boiling)and save it for the next day in a mug or boil it, save it and drink it adding more water throughout the next day. I also put some honey to it. I have mucinex, NAC probiotic and yogurt in the morning with breakfast. I have been on the antibiotics for 16 months already and thank god my stomach is fine. So hopefully you will be able to use something from this long post. It’s just sharing. Oh one more thing. I learned that I cannot have yougurt on an empty stomach because I have a bathroom day then. I wish you the best and try.

Wonder if there is a pro-Biotic that you can get from your Doctor as a RX? That myInsurance would help pay for? The good pro-biotic are very expensive👎

I do take a probiotic. But didn’t know about not taking it right before the pills.
Thanks

Hi @sueinmn, I am glad those work for you. To me, candies / sugar increases nausea. But everyone is different. 🙂
Thank you, Helen
