What's outside of your picture window today?

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Nov 25, 2020

As we get ready for the real winter to show up and COVID-19 still playing a major part in our lives I like to spend moments of my day de-stressing about what's going on in the world today. All I have to do is look out the window and observe some of natures beautiful creatures, how they interact and ponder how small it makes my troubles seem. Sometimes I may even get the opportunity to take a photo or two. How about you? Anything going on outside of your window(s) that you want to share?

For those members that have the ability to size your photos before you upload them to the discussion, may I suggest using the following sizes:
– 500 x 335 pixels (landscape)
– 210 x 210 pixels (square)

Living in the desert I see any tree as a treasure! I am very thankful for everything that was planted here since the house was built 24 years ago. We have three saguaros, four sumac trees, two Palo Verdes, mulberry tree, three desert willows, chase tree, two pomegranate trees, an orange tree, a lime tree, Arizona ash tree, Texas mountain laurel tree, and several other trees I haven’t identified yet. Lots of bushes like lantana and Red Bird of Paradise and several blooming vines. Our property is slightly smaller than half an acre, so the vegetation is covering most of our front yard and backyard. Some trees and bushes re-bloom during summer monsoons. I feel truly blessed when I look out the window or go outside.

Wow, the previous owners really turned the property into a lovely oasis! I can imagine the excitement when you identify yet another plant or blossom!
My BFF moved to New Mexico a few years ago from northeast Wisconsin. We’re used to lush green vegetation and water! LOL She’d been an avid gardener with a hope on the annual garden tour. Now she gets excited when a small pot of flowers makes it through a couple of months.
I’m so happy you’ve found your little slice of heaven out there and enjoying your second life after transplant. ☺️

When my husband and I saw all the plants on this property, we were willing to overlook a lot of things that would need to be replaced like the roof and the kitchen counters. Those things can be replaced, but we don’t have enough time to plant tree seedlings and wait for them to mature.

We got .3" of rain yesterday. The first in more than 60 days. It helped out some of the massive fires burning here in Oregon, but of course our fire danger level did not go down. The rain as accompanied by thunder and lightning.

This morning it was a treat to see some raindrops still on my rose bush leaves! And I expect in the next few days there will be sudden pops of green everywhere. We do not supplement water anything, except my roses and other plants. The grass dies off in summer. The mama deer and her twins [they still have their spots!] should be though here again soon to check out any new growth to munch on.

I’m glad that you finally got some rain! My brother lives in Portland and he told me how surprised he was that they had thunder and lightning too!

We’ve had quite a few monsoon rains in the last couple of months in Arizona. I’ve never been so grateful for the rain until I moved here five years ago!

I enjoyed a very bright moonlight for a few minutes behind my house this morning. A little while late, as I was doing my daily exercises, in front of my house I enjoyed a beautiful sunrise. I’m feeling grateful and blessed.

I’m doing well with my life-style adjustments since my prostate cancer surgery and related cancer, which was found in one of eight lymph node tested. I’m grateful that I’m continent; it was a 10-month recovery process. I’ve been able to keep my PSA level undetectable with a Mediterranean diet without chemo or radiation. It’s a very healthy diet for sure. 😀 Have a great day.

Dear @johnbishop
That’s nice looking outside things like honeybees, birds, people walking and, specially my doggies.. the Runber Oakley.

I usually send FB pictures of my Pepper Bird doggy girl pictures; some photos and some videos.

That’s nice reading your name in here.
Thx,
Greg D.

I am looking at the greenest grass that I have ever seen in Huston, TX in August. Strange that a devastating hurricane that we had July 8th could also be responsible for such a beautiful lawn. Yes, I am thankful.
