shortshot80) Nancy Well, they did not do any surgery, he came home and told me that they are going to do the surgery next week on Tuesday) hopefully the small baby catheter will not plug or cause him any problems. Another small thing happened yesterday. Have a pretty large tree that has a enormous amount of leaves on it. Well the large limb in the middle of the tree. The wind yesterday blew pretty hard and the weight of the limb swaying just broke>
Wow! I needed another lemon to work with. Sometimes so many lemons drop out of the sky, that you can't make lemonade!I'm going to just rest today, I have a small head ache, so will just watch tv. Hey guys/gals Thanks for listening and for all the prayers. Nancy

My prayers are with you. It can be so exasperating.

I'm also at a stressful place with my 87 year old husband. He has been at the Senior Behavioral Health unit at our local hospital for 6 weeks waiting for placement in a Care Center. The local ones all tell us they don't have room but will put him on the waiting list. When they call that a room is available, they all say he isn't a good fit at the present time because of his medical report. I'm beginning to think he is being held hostage because of the Medicare political issue right now and Care Centers are unsure of payments. He will need to receive Medicare as we just don't have assets enough for long-term care. He is a Korean Veteran and the local county Veterans commission is helping us but there is still at least 2 - 3 months waiting list there. Just so frustrating.

One day at a time, my friend.

@shortshot80 Hi Nancy: Congratulations on finishing your radiation! I am sorry to hear of your husband's struggles - your plate is certainly full. You are continually blessed to have children who can be involved in your life and help you when the going gets tough. Best wishes and prayers are going out your way this morning! Teresa

Hi Nancy:
I've been thinking about you and your husband. Are you both doing better?
Teresa

Hi Teresa, Bob had bladder surgery last Tuesday, the doc also put in a larger catheter. That is helping quite a bit. Thank Heaven out oldest son who lives with us, has also had urology problems can take care of dad. I don't know much about those types of problems. Me I'm still tired, once in a while a nap works. Mostly I putter around the house, wash clothes, vacuum some. I seem to keep busy all day. Have had a sore foot for the past month. Been wearing a "boot" for six weeks, not helping much. Doc thinks it is coming from my back. So
more tests will be coming. I finished my radiation June 16, have not heard from my doc's on what will happen next. Tomorrow a lady friend I have known since 1968 will be coming to spend a couple days with me. I kid her some, telling her we will play "tiddly winks" in bed. She will sleep with me and my little dog Abbi. Last time she stayed Abbi checked her out up one side then the other and then just laid down beside me and we all slept. Interesting she is a late sleeper, I'm early. See how that goes. This weekend our little town has a parade, fish fry, novelty items for sale. Our town is busy for the weekend. August 21 iseclipse and our town is in the middle of the proposed path. We are a uncorporated small town. Year round total of people is about 1100.00. The powers that "be" in the County told us that the county is expecting about over one million people. Amazing! Be sure to get all your groceries on Wednesday or Thursday and then stay home. Won't be able to go anywhere much less buy anything. Going to be interesting to say the leased.... "shortshot80" Nancy

@shortshot80 Thanks for updating us on you and your husband. I'm glad to hear that your husband's surgery was helpful to him. Your son's presence continues to be a blessing to you - that is so good. I'm sure that you will have a great weekend with your friend. I hope you get a glimpse of the eclipse and enjoy the weekend. Teresa

Hi Nancy @shortshot80

I've been thinking about you. The folks in your town must be gearing up for the eclipse!

How are you and your husband doing? As I remember your radiation treatments ended in June. Are you beginning to get your energy back? Also, last we heard, your husband had bladder surgery. Has he recovered from that and doing better?

Teresa

Hi everyone, Things have been going half way smooth. A few ups & downs as usual. Bob is doing much better.
He is eating a little better too. I try to have been trying to have somewhat healthy meals. Breakfast this morning
a bagquete cut in half toasted, buttered along with a small dish of cherries. Lunch a half tuna sandwich mixed
with some Mayo, onion spread on toasted bread along with a tomato and left over salad. With a few potato chips.
Me I am still tired a lot. But maybe I am doing too much again. Today...Saturday 8/12 I took out a cornbeef out of the
freezer and put it in the crock pot about 10am. Bob was in the shower, I changed his bedding, found the clothes he wanted
to wear. Put all the clothes in the wash. unloaded the dishwasher. Put all the dishes away. Loaded breakfast dishes. Bob Jr
came home and I fixed him a sandwich of tuna. Clothes are done. Pulled the clothes from the dryer, took them into the
bedroom and folded and put them away. When Bob jr came home he brought foudr more crab for me to clean and pick.
I have a nice big bowl for us to share before dinner. Stopped and had a cup of tea. Then to the computer. It is just 2pm.
And I'm tired. Yesterday company showed up. at dinner time. 5-6ish I had fixed a shrimp Louie. Boiled eggs, salad.
I make my own thousand island dressing for the shrimp or crab salad. 4-5 boiled eggs. Peeled & grated. Sweet pickles
grated. Mayo, mix well, add 2-3 tablespoons lemon juice. Add 2-3 tablespoons sweet pickle juice and mix well. Then
add catsup11/2 to 3/4 cup. Mix well and put in refrigerator till time to serve the salad. Earlier I had gone to the store, they
had Marion berry pie on sale.. Ummm good for desert. We visited until about 8:30 PM. He left and I went to bed. Got up
this morning about 6:30 and now It is 3:15 and I'm tired. Maybe a small nap will help. Shortshot80.   Nancy

Hi Nancy @shortshot80

Thanks for checking in with us and updating us on you and your husband. You sound like an excellent caregiver for your hubby!

If I knew where you lived, I'd probably stop in to eat - it sounds like you have some amazing recipes!!

I am sorry to hear that your fatigue is still a problem, but it is probably quite natural given all of the treatments you have been through. Naps and tea sound like good breaks when fatigue hits.

Our town is pretty small, about almost 1000 full time people. Our County is expecting over one million people to be here for the eclipse, and our town doesn't have enough of anything to accommodate that many people. A meeting of all the officials in the County, we were told we should go to the store and purchase all we will need for a week (maybe longer) then go home and stay there. The grid lock of so many cars (people) will just overwhelm our town. Another town south of us about 20 miles is a whole lot bigger than we are (rumor ) has that the police will be on bikes in order to be able to get around (because of grid lock) I am praying for fog! People will leave to try to get ukp on higher ground. People want to camp on the beach, but we expect a really low tide and to comple the tide will be a NINE foot high tide. If you sleep on the beach you will get wet. Bob is doing much better as far as the surgery went.Doing ok otherwise. He is 89 will be 90 in October. We also will celebrat 67 years of marriage October 21. Lots of ups & downs over the years. Nancy
