Who's taken Myrbetriq for overactive bladder? Results?

Posted by fdixon63 @fdixon63, Sep 14, 2022

I've seen a urologist today for urgency and frequency issues. He has prescribed Myrbetriq. When I came home I checked for possible interaction with current meds. It shows a "moderate" level of interaction with my Propafenone (heart rhythm) and Amitriptyline (sleep aid.) I've called the office but it will be tomorrow before they double check with him to clarify that it is OK for me to take Myrbetriq. Wondering if there are others who have been in this situation. Thanks.

Yikes! I was really feeling hopeful about asking about this but after reading some of these testaments...nope. As a 19 year post kidney transplant, I already take a plethora of meds and don't think taking one which may or may not work is the right path. Sigh, guess I'll stick (for now) with Always Depends. 😕

I had prostate removed in 2001 and have been leaking ever since. I have tried just about all of the prescription drugs and have had 3 surgeries for incontinence and am leaking all the time. Has anyone tried the Botox injections for incontinence?

I had a side effect of just feeling odd with Myrbetrec, so quit. Suggest kegle exercises and less coffee and no pop after noon.

Might be worth a try, but suggest doing Kegel exercises for a couple months to do it the natural way. It can work wonders for most people as we age. Men and women.

Good evening @fdxon63. I also take Merbetriq for similar reasons. When my PCP was informed that recent research was indicating that oxybutynin can increase cognitive impairment in senior patients, she replaced it with Myrbetriq. I noticed somewhat less stress incontinence simply because the medication relaxes the bladder muscle and allows the bladder to fill more before demanding to be emptied.

After a recent bladder sling surgery, I chose to remain on Merbetriq for the very same reasons, especially post-surgery. It has been a couple of months and I think it is still keeping that muscle relaxed and improving my surgery outcome.

You will find out that this medication is rather "spendy". There are some assistance options mentioned online.
My thinking is that I will continue to pay for medication that performs a necessary function.

Are you also doing pelvic exercises?

May you be safe, free, and protected from inner and outer harm.
Chris

You might want to try the Canadian pharmacy , the cost is $160 for a 90 day supply. I use them to purchase my Eliquis.

I have taken Myrbetriq for several years. After several months I was aware that the bladder spasms and urgency lessened. I have history of UTI’s and kidney stones, so I really appreciate the difference in how healthy my bladder feels now over the days of uncertainty and planned bathroom visits all day every day.
One tip I will offer: empty bladder and then wait a minute and empty all residue urine from bladder… EVERY T IME. Hope this helps.

Have you tried see a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic floor therapy? They can be very helpful. Theres more to do than the old kegel exercises haha! Wishing u the best.

Never drink pop. (By the way, might you be from the Midwest or UP...the "pop" thing.) As a born/bred New Yorker (but now in the UP) it is "soda"...pop is a noise or what you call your dad. LOL
Anyway, will check further into the pelvic exercises and maybe hit up the Keurig less often. Thanks!

This may or may not be helpful (I’m still waiting to find out). Mayo Clinic Press has a book on incontinence that I started reading awhile back. My mother had issues with overactive bladder. I have had troubles with bladder control all my life. Kids used to make me laugh or tickle me when I was little until I inevitably wet my pants. Now I’m 67 years old and aging doesn’t help the problem any! I have a 13 year old granddaughter who struggles with enuresis. I started reading this book in the hope of finding some answers.

I alsohave taken Myrbetriq if I don’t I can not control my bladder at all. I also produce air bubbles. I had a test into the bladder that was filled with water and bubbles showed up. It is not normal. But I had intestine surgery and had a fistula there and one on my bladder. Now I see a kidney doctor also. Don’t know what will happen.
