Anyone choose cryotherapy for prostate cancer?

Hi Colleen, Thank you for reaching out. I have not decided on my treatment yet. I am getting a PSMA-Pet scan on Sept 17 then once the results are reviewed, we will see. Right now I am a candidate for focal therapy and that is why I was looking at either laser or cryotherapy. Unfortunately, I have gotten zero responses on people commenting on receiving cryotherapy. I am currently still a candidate for surgery but would prefer not to go with that option. I had another PSA test done last week and my PSA is now 20.2 up from 18.1 which was 3-1/2 months ago. Still a 3+3, grade 2, MRI says contained but we are anxious to see what the PSMA-Pet scan says. If you have any info on anyone who receive cryo, I would love to hear. Any comments, always appreciated. Thanks so much.

Hi Embee. I didn't have Cryotherapy, but a RALP. However, my friend had the seeds implants, but after 2 years his PSA started rising again. Surgery not an option, so he had Cryotherapy. That was a year ago and PSA normal again. He said Cryotherapy was less invasive than the seeds. My Urologist never suggested Cryotherapy and I know no one who has used as first treatment. I'm not sure why that is. Sorry I can't be more helpful. I'd discuss Cryotherapy with your Urologist, surgeon, and Oncologist as you should be talking to all three before making a decision.
