Is there a quick fix for anxiety problems?
Hello, My name is Megan. I work for a web app. Lately, my workload at the office has significantly increased, causing me to suffer from anxiety. As a result, I took a supplement called GOLI, which was suggested by a colleague. However, the supplement didn't help me at all. My problems are getting worse day by day, causing major disruptions in my daily life and work.
What should I do now? Is there anyone here, or any respected senior member, who can offer me a good solution? It would be very helpful if someone could provide a good suggestion.

Hi @kmegan, I moved your question to the Depression & Anxiety support group here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/depression-anxiety/
While I don't think there are quick fixes for most things in life, I know that people can manage anxiety successfully. There are many tools and resources to help you. A single supplement is likely not the answer.
Anxiety is different for everyone. @naturegirl5 started this discussion a while back that you might find helpful:

Megan, it sounds like your anxiety is new for you and possibly work related. Are there other things going on besides an increase in workload? Have you considered talking to a professional therapist about it?

6 ReactionsGo see your doctor, they will be able to give medication that works, my suggestion when/if visit doctor is that this is for my body though, sometimes they’ll try antidepressants that go along with anxiety & I’ve tried 7 different medications antidepressants that are prescribed for anxiety & 1 of them worked but was like in a total fog so not effective in being able to function adavan & the likes are for acute I’m having bad anxiety now type of meds & for me was able to feel way better slow down thinking in a positive way & get on with functioning on task. Good luck!
A person with tremors I know has asked for a downgrade in her position, she loves not having the responsibility and the less pay doesn't bother her. She works 2 days at home and 3 at work. No
stress.
Deep breathing can help anxiety symptoms some. However I don't think there is a quick fix.
I went the natural mode (for the most part. I take a low dosage of Xanax at night to help me sleep)
Here's what help me :
1. Counseling combined with 10 sessions of accunpuncture. (I started to feel normal again)
2. My GP who incorporates holistic treatment with traditional medicine did a battery of bloodwork and then addressed the findings with supplements and vitamins.
Here's what often overlooked in my lay woman's opinion- we have real life issues that causes us to have anxiety and depression because of underlying medical conditions.
We found out my cortisol and vitamin D levels were off. We addressed it with vitamins, supplement, herbs and diet.
Cortisol levels are so important.
In the end follow your gut. It will guide you.

6 ReactionsAgree with @intendtorecover. The very last thing that you want to do is start taking a bunch of antidepressants and such. I would attempt to be in contact with a reputable counselor that may be able to help you sort things out between work life and private life. Sometimes objective review of your situation can be very helpful. I'm a strong proponent of avoiding medications that are not necessary. Often times it's just too easy for a physician, NP/PA just to order meds rather than taking the time to explore options. This of course, comes from personal experience.

1 ReactionI understand and it's terrible so many doctors don't get it.
The only thing that ever helped with my anxiety was Xanax or clopizpam and now I can't get a doctor's to even prescribe it. Here I have cancer going through hell and they are acting like i should be worried about getting addicted to something.. I'm fighting for my life I'm not worried about getting addicted to something that will help my anxiety. Ever since I have had cancer I don't like leaving the house I'm way to stressed out and financial problems because I live in California were it's impossible to make ends meet. My life is a terrible sad life now. No friends only my husband thank God for him but I know he gets sick of all the cancer stuff. I have a daughter who just doesn't care and it breaks my heart and my brother doesn't seem to care. No one will help out like that should. It's very sad.

1 ReactionIf you can you need to go to a psychiatrist They are able and willing to prescribe. It’s sad that your oncologist won’t prescribe for a little while to help you get through this. Your primary care should also be willing to prescribe something along with an antidepressant. I wish you the best. You will be in my prayers!
