If you have had the tests done at hike do you have to do them again? I am not supppsed to have CT’s with contrast because of kidney disease and really do not want to duplicate tests.
My comments are to contact pulmonary to ask for sputum culture along with chest CT. Perhaps you can accomplish both with PCP since you have an upcoming appointment.

Thanks for excellent advice. I have an appt. on 15th and will discuss with my PCP. Seems he is more concerned about finding out than the pulmonary doctor.
I went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in late April this year. I was given a program with a battery of testing to be done the day before my doctor appointment. That included xray and CT (without contrast), blood draw, spirometer, EKG and 4 other tests. After speaking with the doctor, he ordered rhinoscopy, and the test with barium that is consumed in while standing, laying on stomach, laying on each side. I found via portal, that I had GERD too. I am supposed to return in 5-7 months, which is pretty much now. Not able to get any appoints, so I’m told I’m on the wait list and will be called when one opens up. There are already tests in my portal that I will need when I go back. Sadly, the tests done after seeing the doctor did not lead to any interactions with the ordering pulmonologist there. I need to wait for my next visit. One blood test of particular interest to me, was a DNA test on a specific gene - it determines if MS or not; The other components determines if you are susceptible to lung issues. That one was positive, not the MS thankfully, but interesting read on the portal.
I see Dr Sarah Chalmers at Mayo Clinic in Rochester and am
Pleased with my care. I highly recommend her although it is hard to get appointments. Now that I am her patient, she will always make time to see me. I’m being treated for bronchiectasis and NTM lung disease.
I see Dr. Victor Ortega at Mayo clinic in Phoenix.
He is excellent and extremely fortunate to be under his care. Same as lorrainewenn, Dr. Ortega is very busy with ongoing BE research projects, he always replied to my messages and concern.
I feel so fortunately to be treated by Pulmonology and I.D. at Mayo, Phoenix.

HI Gtokaren, Thanks for your detailed sharing . It looks like you have a comprehensive check up and some issues are also confirmed.
Is the doctor you saw Dr Timohy Aksamit? I heard he is a very famous doctor. I am supposed to see Dr. Timothy in September and stay there for 3 days for CT and sputum tests. Does anyone see him before? Any input?
