Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain?

Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain? I've had 2 doctors push this on me. I know that the side effects can be terrible and getting off of it difficult as it requires titration. One time I remember taking one pill, and not liking the way it made me feel, so not taking any more, and still feeling the "weirdness" from it 2-3 days later. and that was only 30 mg Please pass along any experience or advice from this medication?

Same side effects as who ? I've not reported any negative side effects. And I would have never took it for twenty years with terrible side effects. Even with two and a half year taper. I'm just stating what it has done for me.

Have you ever done anything that started out great, but after a while didn't work as well, but you continue in the hope it will improvel?

After new and increased pains after each of my 16+ ortho surgeries, with various autoimmune diseases, AND advancing age, I still thought it might be helping somewhat. It wasn't until talking to others about their experiences and research that I realized the cognitive decline, changes in affect, weight, and eventual tooth loss were likely attributable to the drug. They resolved -- obviously not tooth loss - once off the drug.

Robert why such an angry, blaming reply to my personal account in response to a question?

Daniel, I admitted my stupidity in my comment, but thank you for piling on. I am happy that you've had no ill effects from it and hope that continues. But, everybody reacts differently to meds.

But, if you take the time to check out that group, with its 39K members, you will see many others with similar stories.

i was not piling on. nor calling you stupid. i just can't figure out why you would go so long before you take matters into your own hands and stop taking this med. of course they react differently. no 2 people are the same. that's why i advocate on researching meds. stop being offended if i question you. i'm not attacking you. everybody needs someone who cares enough to question choices. i know i sure do. it helps us from being harmed by doctors. and i always say "if the doctor don't do right by you. fire them." find a doctor who'll help you.

I’ve been talking Cymbalta for a year now. I’m taking 80mg and it makes me mellow and took off the burning pain on my lower thighs. Never had a problem so far.

i must have a different tolerance level for drugs. than some people. i'm on 120 mg of Cymbalta and 2400mg of Gabapentin. a day each. i don't have side effects. from either nor combined. i don't get loopy nor mellow. but sometimes i wish it did. especially loopy. just me. plus 100 mg of Celebrex a day. for a Herniated disc @ L4- L5. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️.
but i'm thrilled it helps with your pain, @cantab. Daniel

how is lyrica different and what is it prescribed for? Where are you getting the burning?

The symptoms were a bit of nauseous, but just a weird headache (sides of the head for some reason) and an overall blah and foggy feeling. I also heard that there is "brain zaps" fairly common in folks. This may be related to those feelings. It's hard to describe, but it wasn't pleasant at all. I also heard that it's bad for the male libido (delayed or no ejaculation, etc...) and that is fairly common side effect. All in all I'm not looking forward to it if I try it at all.

I have been on Lyrica before. Had to get off of it because it affected my memory and sent me into a very bad depression. My psychologist requested I get off Lyrica because of these side effects. Please be careful on Lyrica
Lyrica was the best thing I’ve taken for my neuropathy pain but can’t handle the side effects.

It was suggested i try cymbalta for my pain, which i think is a side affect from ECT treatments.(electro convulsive therapy) I get very sharp pains in my toes or anywhere in my body. My feet are very sore, I am very dizzy. I need a refferal from one of my doctors to get a MRI. These symptoms have been ongoing for months

Yes, I have been taking it for 3 years. I had a pinched nerve in my neck. I had therapy...no help. I wore a neck brace for 1 and 1/2 years. It helped but I didn't want to wear it forever. Dr. Ordered Duloxitine. After a week or so all neck pain was relieved. It was wonderful. Still taking 30 mg every day.
