Occasional Blurry Vision

Posted by Ali @muhammadali1951, Jul 27 12:12am

I experience occasional blurred vision. An examination has detected nothing wrong with the eyes. So, the eye doctor suggested a cardiology and neurology evaluation.

Brain and Spine MRI scans detected mild thickening of the artery to the brain, which the doctor said was normal at my age (73)

A Holter study detected nothing wrong.

I have bradycardia, as my heart rate is around 55 per minute.

What could be the cause of the blurring of the eyes?

Extreme anxiety can cause vision problems at times, as well as over using computers screen time.

@muhammadali Did anyone suggest chronic dry eyes?
In order to avoid blurriness and discomfort, I must use preservative-free lubricating drops several times each day, and a lubricating ointment overnight. If I skip a few days, it can take up to a week to fix.

I don't know what would be causing the blurring of your vision, but I'm 78 and have the same problem. When this happens I use over the counter eye drops for dry eyes and it helps a lot. Sometimes I have to use them every day.
I've worn glasses since I was 6 and have always had eye problems. I suppose this is mainly related to aging. It's good that you had all of those tests etc. and they found nothing wrong.

Don't forget to rule out the very simple things...like dry eyes.

If you don't produce enough tears, that alone can create a kind film on your eyes and blurry vision.

I use Systane. Of course, your eye doctor should have told you if you have dry eyes.

But I would take a quick look into those kinds of cause...allergies, dry eyes, etc. etc.

Make sure you rule all that stuff out.

I thought I was going blind. My eyelids stuck to my eyes...all I saw was red. It was horrible. But, in fact, it turned out to be a very minor and very fixable problem.

Then into more elaborate problems with floaters...

So, you know, just to rule that out.

yes, I agree. Dry eyes caused very very bad problems. I thought I was losing my vision. And it was just dry eyes.

I use Systane. Often have to use the drops multiple times per day.

oh and my dry eyes definitely started right around wildfire season.

I am positive that is the straw that broke the camel's back. Had some problems, generally, for years and years.

But after that powerful season of Canadian wildfires, I had to use the drops.

NASA has a wildfire map. Seems like wildfire smoke goes clear across the country and lasts most of the year now.
