Evenity and belly fat?

Posted by sandrac @sandrac, Jul 14 1:00pm

Has anyone noticed an increase in belly fat with Evenity? It is not a listed side effect. I stay up about 3-4 pounds over my normal weight and it seems to have settled in my belly. My diet has not changed, except now I am trying to cut back on some things, but it does not seem to be helping. I am coming up on round 6 in three weeks. Otherwise, I have had no issues. Thanks in advance!

Possibly. I started Evenity only last month but have noticed a smallish belly below my waist. It puzzled me as my weight is about the same. I wouldn’t think one month’s dose would already do that though.

I too noticed a change in my appearance - my waist, which I was rather proud of, is a doughy mess and my belly is not as flat as it was before. I don't know if it's Tymlos, Evenity, that I was inactive for about 6 months because of the painful side effects of Tymlos or just old age. I also seem to remember seeing an article that once there are compression frax, the vertebrae can fold toward the stomach and cause a forward bulge. Whatever the reason, I don't like it much.

Aaaahhh, what next? Cheers, y'all.

I've had six sets of injections. I had increased belly fat very early on, but that was because I was eating more. Evenity made me really hungry.

I haven’t noticed an appetite change, but that is interesting. I guess I should be happy that seems to be my only issue, and maybe it will drop off when I am done with the series.

Yes, I experienced weight gain in the belly starting after my third injection. When I brought it up to my doctor, they mentioned that’s not a side effect. I am up three more pounds than I usually am. I just had my sixth injection over a week ago. I am now getting my injections in my thighs. Which seems to help a bit with the bloated belly.

I get mine in my arms, alternating each time, so that shouldn’t directly affect my belly, I wouldn’t think. I guess we just have to balance the benefits vs the little annoying issues like this. I am still grateful to have access to these meds and that my issues are small ones. I will just keep cutting those carbs! 😊

I definitely have a swollen belly from the first and second shot. But am wondering if the same type of swelling would occur on legs or arms, wherever the site of the injection. I have mine done in my abdomen due to PMR in thighs and legs and also due to the fact there is more fat at my abdomen than leg/thigh area.

I have mine done on my arms and take an antihistamine and Tylenol beforehand. I have had no injection site swelling or hardly any redness. That may be why. Anything new in your body can cause an inflammatory response and an antihistamine can sometimes quiet that.

I will try that next shot. Do you think an antihistamine would reduce belly fat already there due to last shot?

I would think only if your shots were abdominal and it was caused by that, but I am just guessing.
