Evenity and belly fat?

Posted by sandrac @sandrac, Jul 14, 2024

Has anyone noticed an increase in belly fat with Evenity? It is not a listed side effect. I stay up about 3-4 pounds over my normal weight and it seems to have settled in my belly. My diet has not changed, except now I am trying to cut back on some things, but it does not seem to be helping. I am coming up on round 6 in three weeks. Otherwise, I have had no issues. Thanks in advance!

After my first Evenity shot I was up 3 pounds the next day all in my stomach. It lasted for three weeks, lost all but a half pound. The second shot, same thing happened, up 3 pounds. My stomach feels very distended and bloated. I had my shot in the arm. Definitely not looking forward to a year of this. Anyone find anything that combats the weight gain? I eat super healthy, exercise everyday , both cardio and resistance. I track all my food and weight so I know I didn't eat anything different.

I noticed that too. My appetite increased the first couple of months and I have put on stomach fat. I have had 10 (20 in the two arms) shots. I am wondering if I will lose some of the fat when I finish Evenity.
I also developed acid reflux after shots 7. I am now on Pepcid 40 mg twice a day. I hope that goes away when I am finished with Evenity. Has anyone else experienced acid reflux that went away after finishing Evenity?

I have noticed an increase in my appetite and also heartburn. Definitely would like to know if all these symptoms end at the end of treatment.

I’m assuming at month 7 that the reflux is caused by the bisphosphonate phase of evenity. I think on the this site some people switched to Reclast instead of finishing evenity. The anabolic phase is 1st 6 months then second 1/2 is more bisphosphonate phase. May warrant a little research if it’s hard to tolerate.

I too noticed a change in my appearance - my waist, which I was rather proud of, is a doughy mess and my belly is not as flat as it was before. I don't know if it's Tymlos, Evenity, that I was inactive for about 6 months because of the painful side effects of Tymlos or just old age. I also seem to remember seeing an article that once there are compression frax, the vertebrae can fold toward the stomach and cause a forward bulge. Whatever the reason, I don't like it much.

Aaaahhh, what next? Cheers, y'all.

Beanie, my belly bulged out also after my spine got comp. fx's especially the thoracic spine. I do not like it either and will continue to wear a belt to keep my spine together while they all heal.
I just had gall bladder surgery and contributed it to that but then realized it maybe more from the spine folding inwards pushing the bowels as I am up to 8 fx's. Now on Forteo thank god and getting stronger.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had 8 frax, jackieo1919 but happy to hear that Forteo is helping. I’ve had “only” four compression frax but, after looking at x-rays and plenty of online images searches, I can see that the location of the fracture(s) may be causing the forward “folding” of the spine :(. I’ve lost an inch in height which might also be adding to my sagging belly. Honestly, though, this sagging didn’t occur until after 9-1/2 months of treatment with Tymlos and all of my fractures were prior to that. I try to accept that gravity is not my friend and I need to do those core exercises to give my aging bones some support. I need to get to it! Happy New Year - 2025!

Cheers!

Forteo. Giving yourself a daily injection? How is that?

Wasn't an issue for me. It is a tiny needle and I did it twice then no problem. I'm not referring to side effects but only the process of self injection.p

I too have gained 10lbs. I walk five miles a day. I really watch what I eat but do take in a 65 mg of protein and 1,000 mg of calcium through my diet. My clothes still fit…so I’m not worried.
