SVT after pulsed field ablation
I had a radio frequency ablation with insertion of a loop monitor in my left breast on 8/30/24, followed by a pulsed field ablation to stop continuing arrhythmias on 3/7/24. After the second ablation, according to the loop monitor, I had no unusual heartbeats until 7/3/24 (a stressful day getting ready for company on the 4th of July) when I had an incidence of SVT for 6 seconds.
Six seconds isn't very long, but is it likely I will have more arrhythmias now that I have had one?
I switched to a vegan diet two years ago, have no co-morbidities, and am starting a new fitness routine. Is there anything else I can do to help prevent arrhythmias from returning?

If at all possible, print the strip of the SVT and send it to your cardiologist. We all get tachycardias at times and it may be nothing to worry about. Also, the currently famous meditation may help for anxiety.
Honestly, I wouldn't sweat a one-off that might have been due to an adrenergic reaction. If it repeats when NOT under any duress in the next three months, that might be an indication that something has been developing and is gaining ground, or simply that you have the odd short-lived glitch. Some with arrhythmias of a kind might kill for a heart that is 'good' 97% of the time. If it repeats in the future when you are once again under a thumb, maybe that's the new reality and you should try to limit stressors.
Six seconds is not long. Many with fibrillation or SVT eventually seek help because they are getting longer sessions and more frequently. I would counsel you to relax, shrug it off as early as you can let it go, and try to limit undue/unnecessary stress. I would trust my spidey sense when/if the frequency begins to creep up and the events seem to go into minutes. You're not there.
The cardiologist sent the report to me. 🙂
Thank you for reminding me to meditate! That is always a good thing.
Thank you. I do feel very fortunate to have come this far from where I was.
Are you eating or drinking anything with caffeine? Coffee, chocolate, colas, Mountain Dew? For me, I cannot even have a small amount.
I am sorry you are having to avoid some enjoyable foods. Occasionally I have some decaf coffee and dark chocolate.
I just heard from my EP's nurse. He said it is unlikely SVT incident is related to the afib problems I had before the last ablation. He said short SVTs are common in the general population. This is a great relief to me. I was dreading the thought of another ablation coming partly because I have been intubated six time in two years for different procedures, and my throat has not recovered.
Thank you for your responses and support. I get tired of being sick and tired, and it's really nice to be able to talk to someone about it. People without heart problems don't understand.
Even a little causes problem, but it would be also difficult to have just a little once in a while. It is more difficult, if I could, to just have once in a while. Hey! I want at least an ounce of dark chocolate a day but makes my skin itch like crazy. Once I get the taste buds going, I want it every day. And I am not overweight, but easily becomes a craving for me. But not worth arrythmia or itching half the night.
Omigosh... I do understand! Chocolate is so addictive. I can't keep it in the house. Occasionally I give in, but then I banish it for a while. Itching half the night sounds awful. My usual symptom for telling me I ate the wrong thing is migraine headaches, with or without an aura.
The thing that has helped me the most was overhauling my diet completely. I know this will be annoying for some to read, but I became vegan 2.5 years ago. Eating dairy and other animal products gave me inflammation that led to a host of problems. My migraines are almost gone, along with my knee pain, general osteoarthritis pain, psoriasis, IBS, constipation, high cholesterol, elevated sugar, elevated blood pressure, cysts in breasts, acne, gingivitis, excess weight, moodiness, etc..
If I start to have a food craving now, I eat some trail mix, carrots and hummus, or nut butter and AllFruit on toast and I'm good.
The foods we LOVE can have horrible consequences. Eventually we learn that those few minutes of extreme pleasure are not worth it.
