@gencha
Semaglutide is the active ingredient in Wegovy, Ozempic, and Rybelsus. Semaglutide balances blood sugar (glucose) levels, suppresses your appetite, and promotes a feeling of satiety (fullness) by slowing the emptying of your stomach contents.
So, when stop taking medication, the appetitive suppression and feeling of fullness goes away.
It is possible to keep weight off, but long-term success requires other weight management strategies.
This article has good explanations and hints to keep weight off.

Are you currently taking Wegovy or thinking about taking?
Thank you for the information. I am thinking of taking wegovy.
Weight is regained just as it is with so many other medical interventions; it doesn't address the obsession and compulsion to eat amounts of food that are not appropriate to maintaining a healthy weight. Medications, etc. address the hunger temporarily, but I have found that Overeaters Anonymous supports long term recovery while working along with the physician or surgeon. It addresses food like AA addresses alcohol.
Good morning @gencha! I have been off Wegovy for about 6 weeks because my weight was at a standstill. I have gained 12 lbs since being off it. I hope you are doing well and don't have the weight gain.
Hi Brenda, did you lose any weight on it? If you did, how much?
Yes I did! I lost about 30 lbs and I was on it for a little over a year. It kept my A1C down to 4.8 and I was able to go off metformin. Let me know how it goes for you. Have a great day!

I am curious, do you think weight gain is due to no longer feeling satisfied after eating?
Are you planning on going back on Wegovy or trying something else to loss weight?
I believe the weight gain is due to being hungrier. With Wegovy it did curb your appetite, so you did not feel hungry. I am going to try Trizepitide which is the generic of Monjaro. I will see what this does for me. Once you reach your weight goal you just have to do 1 shot a month to maintain your weight-loss
Brenda. Just curious. Apparently you’re a diabetic since you mentioned your A1C. Why would you stop taking Wegovy? I’ve been on Ozempic for years for my blood sugars. As a diabetic we need to be on this medication (Ozempic) for the rest of our lives. Same as someone who takes Wegovy only for weight loss. It’s a lifelong commitment. Anyone who has a chronic condition may need meds for the rest of their lives, this is no different.
My diabetes was under control when I started Wegovy so when it was prior authorized it was for weight loss and not diabetes. I stopped losing weight so when I wanted to switch medications they would not approve Ozempic or Monjaro.
