Declining Red Blood Count Related to the COVID Shots?

Posted by chzuck @chzuck, Jul 8 1:14pm

I have been monitoring the dropping of my Red Blood Cell count and did some looking through my records and it appears it started after the two COVID shots. Anyone else dealing with RBC issue similar to this. My latest number is 3.81 10*6/uL

No. My RBC was not affected by vaccines or getting covid. If your numbers are in the range for anemia, it would be good to have a complete blood panel and document any symptoms that you might have. Anemia can be associated with a number of causes and diseases. As an aside, I have celiac disease (gluten) and around 20% of undiagnosed folk have anemia due to malabsorption of nutrients (GI damage). Fourteen years ago the gastroenterologist dismissed that I have celiac because I wasn't anemic, so I wasn't tested for it in the scans/biopsies. Irksome what doctors don't look for. The celiac was triggered by catching the H1N1 virus.

I had iron level and B12 level checked and both were normal.

I had a CBC with Differential this week.
RBC count 3.81
Hgb 12.6
Hct 37.8
Lymphocytes 15.5
All low and results have been declining ever since I had the 2 COVID shots. I had my iron and B12 check and they were normal. Doctor tried tell me it is because I am older. My research so far on medical sites does not support that statement.

ResearchGate is a good source for peer-reviewed papers. I am a retired research scientist (not medicine). I get dismissed cuz I'm older stuff from doctors as well. Good that you are doing research, documenting all your symptoms and results. Are your WBC neutrophils and other components also low?

WBC count is 8.8 and Neutrophils is 73.5, both in range. With the exception of what I posted above all components of the CBC panel are good.
