Nerve block for shoulder surgery

Hi,
I had a nerve block done for my rotator cuff surgery on 02/23 and became sick within a week after. Symptoms: excessive stomach gas, naseau to the point of gagging when trying to eat, and pain in my upper abdomen. First few days I thought it was from Chinese food and a week after contributed it to the stomach flu. It never got better. I felt like I wanted to vomit but never could and never had diarrhea. I have seen GI and had all the tests which show nothing is wrong with my stomach but six weeks later I still have the same issues. I am wondering if anyone has heard of anything like this after having a nerve block and surgery? I am desperate for some relief and want my life back. Thank you.

Yes. Thank you for asking. After 8 months of intensive PT, I have more strength in my arm and pretty good range of motion, but not like pre fall. I am still a work in progress but so grateful for how far I've come. There are times when my arm and shoulder are sore, but am moving forward. I am still doing the exercises provided by my therapist.

I had shoulder surgery this afternoon with a nerve block. Working great for upper shoulder but my hand and fingers are really bothering me with the numbness but tingling and pain. Does this mean the block is wearing off already? Will this continue all the way up the arm? Nurse said wait til block wears off before starting pain pills but I cannot wait. This extremely uncomfortable. Pain med hasn’t touched it.

Thanks for posting this. I had my shoulder replaced on June 3 2024 and have the exact same symptoms. Just returned from the ER only to be told they can find nothing wrong even with a CAT Scan. Put mo on muscle relaxers. So now I wait.

I would love to hear if anybody has found a conclusive cause for this issue. I can’t accept nothing is wrong!
