Has everyone had their Shingles vaccine?

Hi there. Just had my second shingles vaccine today. I did it because I do not want more pain and I have heard that Shingles is VERY painful!!
The injection itself stung a little bit, but I did not have any side effects from it.
If you are over the age of 50 you need to do this— protect yourself!

@janiceem

I got the old shingles vax many years ago, but am hesitant to get the new Shringrix, given the fact that the Pfizer COVID vaccine triggered my PMR. I'm scared of vaccines now, especially mRNA ones. I understand that the Shringrix is not an mRNA vaccine. Has anyone contracted PMR following the Shringrix vaccine?

My PCP recommended I don't get the vaccine at this time.

The flu shot does not give you the flu. From what I have been taught working in medical facilities, almost all vaccines are made from inactive viruses. For people who choose to get a flu vaccine “without a needle” ( intranasal)—this is made with an active virus and can potentially make you sick.
It is always your choice of course, to take a vaccine. During flu season, if an employee refuses the flu vaccine they have to wear a mask when they have patient contact— for their own protection and protection of our patients with compromised immune systems. Shingles, of course, is different. You can’t “catch” shingles, the virus is lying dormant within you, which is why even if you are anti-vaccine, this is one that you might want to consider taking.

Did your doctor tell you that the Covid vaccine caused your flare of PMR?
I do believe this particular vaccine has received a bad rep because it was given to us with no trial testing because of the pandemic.
I think this is why the Covid vaccine is being “blamed” for stuff that could be just a coincidence. Just my opinion, though. Always consult your doctor with your concerns.

I'm staying away from any vaccines while I have PMR too. Given that the adjuvants in vaccines are there specifically to cause a stronger immune response to the vaccine, I'm not willing to push my immune system when it's already being messed up by PMR and the meds.

The adjuvant in Shingrix is Quillaja saponaria, from the soapbark tree which is related to digitalis and very high in oxalates, something I'm currently avoiding. It's mildly toxic which is what makes the immune response stronger. It will probably be okay for most people, but it's not for me at the moment.

I woke up incredibly sick the next morning after my second Pfizer vaccine and shortly thereafter developed PMR. Hadn't even had a cold for 15 years. The CDC is now calling many new cases of PMR a vaccine injury, so I don't need a tin foil hat. No more vaccines for me. Ever.

Not a big believer in coincidence. I woke up sick the very next morning after the second Pfizer jab and then developed PMR. Do I believe the vaccine that isn't even a real vaccine caused my PMR? Absolutely and according to the CDC, I'm far from alone.

As anyone else had their comments not appear in this forum? Is their someone that censors our comments?
Maybe they are censored for a good reason, I would just like to know why.
Thanks

I had the same experience after my second Pfyzer vaccine and I hadn't been sick for over 25 years! I know someone else who contracted an autoimmune disease after her vaccination and she also was extremely healthy up until then. It may be that those of us with strong immune systems are more susceptible???

I've never had a flu shot and I'm 70 year old. I think the last time I had the flu was when my kids were little. I once looked at the effectiveness of the flu vaccines and read that they were only 18% effective, so I take my chances. I did have a friend who died from guillain barre syndrome after a flu shot, so that has been a factor in my decision, as well.
