My Son: Is it depression or bipolar disorder? I need help
My son is 35. Married with 2 children. Since 2019 he seems to have seasons where his mood is really low. Stops working( he is a nurseby profession ) and just stays in the house, sleeping . He tells me he does not sleep ok at night and therefore sleeps during day time. My biggest worry and reason for seeking your suggestions/ help is how to get him to see doctors and get a diagnosis of what is wrong and therefore what can be done. Refuses to go for any counselling or to see a medical doctor. He complains of being physically and mentally exhausted. Isolates himself from rest of the family and prefers to keep to himself in the bedroom. I have tried everything as a parent and am now not sure what else to do. He does come out once in a while to go shopping but he has lost all interest in walks, work and all other daily activities that he used to enjoy in the past. He doe not appear suicidal but am worried what all the inactiveness is doing for his body and how long he is just going to be sleeping in the house.
Worried father/parent

Sorry. Not zoom but they talk online by audio
Best wishes to you. Do not give up and keep telling him he is worth it all and you know he is a wonderful person, every day.
I think Jill Biden is doing an excellent job of modeling for people how to act as a mother to a grown child in need of support. She is there each day yet does not rescue her son. Same with President Biden.
I’ve been following this conversation for some time. I simply want to thank all of you. I have a 44 year old adopted daughter. Your comments have helped me find the answer to what I need to do. I know now what direction I must take that is right for me. My very special thanks to the Mayo Clinic for providing this service.
Namaste, 🙏🏻
He needs to find someone he can talk to to help him deal with whatever is bothering him. His way of coping is no way to live and he needs to show his children how to survive, and go on, as he must for their sake.
I will be happy to talk or simply to write.
Namaste 🙏🏻 Mort

Hi, I have been on this site for quite awhile , had a lapse of time off . Has anyone out there have any advice for me. My son is 28 had a failed marriage , 2 children has been separated for 3 years..he was and always has had times of depression, suicidal thoughts, bursts of anger rage. He a year ago booked up with from what I have heard is a woman that's takes drugs..he has a psychiatrist, who has put him on several for adhd, and abilify , recently changing it to abilify matena. Things were improving with him. But now they are slipping back he has been on the ability Karen's for just 3 weeks. I'm starting to dread seeing him...He's always asking for a land of money. Or some thing , terrible mood swings, denies taking street drugs. Any advice..
Thanks for your support. I will not give up, shall keep doing all i can to help him. The Bidens have shown maturity in the case of their son. It is all I can do and just be there for him.
Thanks
