Does anyone use curcumin (Turmeric) to address autoimmune diseases?

Has anyone besides me used curcumin to address autoimmune diseases.

Turmeric is a root of a plant that belongs to the zingeberaceae family.There are many turmeric health benefits for men and women.
Curcumin that is present in the turmeric spice is extracted and is used as an anti-inflammatory. Over the years there have been numerous scientific studies and researches done on turmeric and all the results have concluded that Curcumin is a very effective ingredient to human health.

Hello @chinmaya62, welcome to Connect and thank your for sharing the turmeric info. Do you have any special recipes that you use for turmeric? I tried a few but have reverted to using Qunol liquid turmeric just because it's easy.

I have been on a large dose of Tumeric with Bioprine since March. I take (always with meals) and a large amount of water,4000 mg three times a day. Except for spotty flares I am currently pain and leasion Free. I have also eliminated all dairy, checking labels for ANY dairy byproducts. No cow, sheep, or goat milk. Read all labels carefully. Eating out can be challenging but I always ask the server to ask the chef. Most have been extremely helpful. My goal: pain, prednisone, and lesion free. Doing Much better following these practices! You take more than I do. I was not getting enough in food, so twice a day I take 1,000 mg. in capsule form, while I continue to add to various dishes that I make. So far, so good. 🙂

Hi @frogy68, welcome to Connect. I'm not sure if this is the study that @maryz was referring to but it does sound like it could be. It's from 2013. I also take turmeric for other autoimmune conditions.

I had been taking 1,000mg of curcumin/turmeric each day to see if it helped with PMR symptoms. I had tapered Prednisone from 20mg per day to 2,5mg but had flare up because of almost 2 weeks of continuous stress. Not wanting to go up on the medicine, I decided to try various other methods to relieve nightly pain and daily fatigue. Yesterday I increased Turmeric to 3,000mg daily, this morning I have stiffness, but no debilitating pain. Of course I really don't know if this is because of the increased Turmeric, however, I plan to continue with the increased dosage.

@noosat1 Another thing that will help for fatigue is eat more raisins . They will increase your iron

@noosat1 Good. Another thing I do and it picks me up is Ginseng I get the Green tea with it in or capsules but one glass of the ginseng in green tea does the trick for me.

Serendipity ! Several years ago my daughter-in-law, Emily Jade, gave me a jar of red ginseng for additional energy. My doctor told me that he didn't know if it had this effect, but it certainly wouldn't hurt me. I put it in my tea for months and then forgot about it. This week found it in the cupboard and started yesterday to take it again. Perhaps this is why I feel so well to-day. 🙂
