How to control SVT without prescribe treatment?
Been having SVT since adolescent, and it would last for a short while. Over the past year it has now lasted for over an hour. I recently had an episode 2 days ago and it lasted 2 hours. Strangely 3 ECG was done at the same time and all readings recorded 3 different patterns with beats almost at 200.
How do i control/calm it down, without prescribed treatment. or what do i do while on my way to the hospital?

I just read the side effects of Metoprolol and beta blockers and abaltion.
I would rather shoot myself in the leg.
Your advice of caffeine free though YES. Don't watch your diet. Change it.
The first thing is to identify what is going on- SVT or atrial flutter_ and for how long, or is it continuous. The doctor may not have felt you needed a patch monitor but you can wear one for a week or even a month.
It seems they were concerned about your immediate safety. That is why you could not leave.
I would be careful about thinking just giving up caffeine and eating less or whatever is going to keep you safe.
If it is flutter, again, you need anticoagulation first and foremost to prevent stroke. Your heart will tire out beating this fast. Even if you don't feel anything and are used to it, you are not entirely safe.
Once no anticoagulation, pick up a copy of The Afib Cure which would apply as well. I do things like magnesium at night, potassium via low sodium V-8 juice a couple of times/day, CoQ10, never eat after 5 or 6, never lie on my right side etc. etc. But you don't have episodes that are triggered , like me. It sounds like yours are more continuous. @newatrialflutter160
I would definitely get a second opinion! Your experience sounds so unsettling on so many levels! Recently I felt uncomfortable with my first cardiologist’s recommended treatment and so I saw another. (A friend had recently spoken highly of him.). The second doctor, looking at the very same test results, gave me a completely different treatment plan, one that made sense to me and has worked well for me. All the best to you in moving forward with caring for your heart!
What a sad experience you had. I don’t know where you are writing from, but American medicine had sunk to new lows. Number one, you need an evaluation from a board certified cardiologist who works with electrical problems in the heart. You must immediately become your own advocate if you are looking for quality medical care. Best of luck to you.
Eliminating caffeine entirely DID / DOES get rid of my heartbeat issues. And for me just having 1/2 cup or even 1/4 cup coffee, I had problems.
@lindy9 you are fortunate. I have not had caffeine in 40 years. I developed afib in 2015. So caffeine is not a factor for some of us. Glad you found a solution!
No Mountain Dew, chocolate, colas, energy drinks?
NO caffeine. For 40 years. I am allergic to chocolate actually. I have never had Mountain Dew. I check any food, beverage, supplement or medication for caffeine.
I must say you are exceptional. The average person eats unhealthy, and then wonders what happened. I choose better than most people I know but still don't do everything right, and I think probably all of my health problems were or are a result of bad choices in the past or out of ignorance or just wanting them.
