My husband had chemotherapy with docetaxel way back in 2016, after the prostate cancer became systemic and started popping up on his spine in several places faster than Radiation Oncology could zap them. The docetaxel worked very well; after it ended in August 2016 and up until spring 2023, he needed only spot radiation and oral medications such as Zytiga plus Lupron shots to keep the cancer quiet. In December 2023 the cancer spots had become so numerous and widespread that Dr. Kwon at Mayo Rochester ordered the PSMA PET scan and discovered that Lu177/Pluvicto was both warranted and likely to be successful. My husband began Pluvicto infusions in January 2024. No one said he had to have more chemo before he could start Pluvicto, I assume because it was in his history. Plus they have pretty much stopped requiring chemo before Pluvicto will be authorized.
