Thanks for your reply. Now, I’m wondering what my inconclusive really indicates. My cardiologist is very dismissive of Apple Watch data so not much help from him.
I’ve worn the Apple Watch for five years after being diagnosed with AFIB , when I felt odd symptoms I checked my Watch and it said Afib, sometimes Inconclusive . I had an unsuccessful ablation in 2019 and another ablation last November. I wore a Holter Monitor for a week , it showed I had NO Afib episodes but several other irregularities, however , when I checked my Watch during that week, it continued to record Afib . I was then told by 2 Cardiologists that the Apple Watch will display Afib recordings with any type of arrhythmias. I’m so totally confused by this information that I’m just not checking my Watch anymore. Taking my Metoprolol and just continuing to live my life one day at a time .
If other patients have been told the same about the Apple Watch, I’d love to know . Thanks , Nora
My cardiologist doesn’t like me paying any attention to my watch and its readings but the readings must influence him to some extent. He takes me a tiny bit more serious when I tell him how I feel and send an ECG. My watch never tests and detects an episode of AFib but the weekly summaries say I am in AFib under 2% of the time. I use mine to detect irregular beats. I have an aneurism that I would be willing to bet is getting bigger. I literally think it is pulsating at times with my heart beat. We all do the best we can. But I am glad when our doctors take us seriously because no one knows you like you know yourself.
I had a successful ablation 18 months ago but have had two episodes of a sudden decrease in exercise stamina that felt like a return of AFib. My Apple Watch presented several AFib positive results, but when I sent them to my cardiologist she said they were borderline. Both times I wore a holter monitor for 2 weeks and both times there was no sign of AFib, but I have frequent PVCs and junctional rhythms. I no longer trust my watch.
I have a Withings brand watch. Seems very accurate for afib diagnosis. I generally use it to confirm if I am having an episode. I recommend it. It also does other health measures. I also have one of their special scales and a blood pressure sleeve.
For afib non watch I think a small Kardia device is best. Covers a number of other arrhythmias as well. Under $100. It is small and easy to use but not quite as convenient as a watch. I think it is very accurate.

I get “inconclusive” readings A couple times a week. I’m thinking Apple is fearful of giving an Afib reading.
