Tender throat

I had some pain several times on outside of my throat. Left side. No swallowing issues. My primary ordered carotid ultrasound that showed no plaque. I’m wondering now if it was a strained muscle. Pain dissipated. Hope yours does too.

@ marilynstubbs do you have TMJ? Last December I went to see my doctor about outer throat pain. He examined me and told me he was pretty sure it was TMJ (I have had since I was a child, but never like the past year) even though my jaw did not hurt. He told me to use a heating pad a few times a day and Hang in there it will subside. It did after about a month. Then in February .. on Groundhog Day .. I awoke pushing my right jaw very hard into my pillow. It knocked both jaws for a loop. My teeth hurt and the dentist fixed my bite to help stop the pain. I bruised several teeth. My jaws and throat were swollen and I had trouble swallowing. I still have achy jaws. If only I could take nsaids .. I will survive. 😃

Sounds like you might be correct in ‘strained muscle’. It sometimes takes awhile for them to recover.

When my TMJ acts up first sign is ‘usually’ a nagging headache. I then make sure my jaws are in place .. the lovely pop tells me I might have it there. Then my jaws ache for a few days. Lately it has been swelling and difficulty swallowing. I will be 73 years old soon. My aging body … symptoms for common things like a bladder infections are weird. With this injury to my jaws my gums have become inflamed. They are better now. I have a good doctor and a good dentist. I see my doctor again in July and if not better he will order MRI .. forgot to mention that I had neck problems for many years that nothing to be done for and this shoving my jaw into my pillow flared it up. My doctor will order a MRI to make sure my neck and jaws are okay. I think I will be good by then. God gives me many opportunities to practice patience. 😁
