How much mucus are you clearing with each nebulising/airways clearance
I have been diagnosed with Bronchiestases and more recently with MAC.
After coming across the Lung Matters protocol on Facebook 18 months ago, I have now given up the PPI (Nexium) and Spiriva and been following the Lung Matters protocol of nebulising with Salbutamol and then 7% hypertonic saline. The volume of mucus I extract each time is at least a cup, probably having increased as a result of having the MAC infection. Also, unlike others who have trouble obtaining sufficient for sputum tests, mine is very loose and prolific.
I am curious to know the volumes others produce and what you feel is the reason for this quantity.
I look forward to hearing from you.

The other person you mentioned, it that me? Yes, produce around 2 table spoons, yellow/green everyday.
No I was referring to a couple of people who say they produce large amounts of mucus. One person said 8 ounces or more? Both the other people that mentioned large amounts seemed to refer to GERD issues also. 2 tablespoons is very very little. Are you aware how much 3 liquid ounces is? That is what I produce every AM nebulizing session.
Thank you, Irene. I am going to see GI at the end of the month to see if I have GERD or acid reflux or silent reflux. Not sure the people you mentioned and yourself have mixed mucus with saliva. My late grandfather and my aunt produce around 8 ounces or more but always clear white. Mine is always yellow/green, glue like. Most people only produce foamy clear jelly like mucus, some mixed with a little bit of yellow plugs. (Please see picture from my sample amount that I sent for culture last week. ) That is the amount that I cough out after postural drainage almost every day. My right lungs hurt from coughing/ huff cough and from trying to get the mucus out.
I sent you a private message with more details. But yes I have much mucus that is colored brownish and every day. Some of it is white foamy also. But definitely it is mucus that looks infected. Not sure about the other two people who referred to large amounts.
