Aquablation: Post-surgery expectations

I had aqaublation surgery 6 weeks ago. My prostrate size was 170 gram. It’s now around 30 gram. I travelled to Montreal where it’s done in a private clinic with no stay overnight. I had a catheter for 4 days. No complications. Im doing well except i still have occasionally pain when i finish urinating at the tip of the penis. All sexual functions work. My Dr told me it can take a while until my bladder adjusts to this new normal. Otherwise I'm thrilled with the procedure so far . Just waiting for the pain to go away. I has Rezum before this procedure which did not work.

Had Aquablation this past Wednesday. Was in the hospital recovery for a few hours and went home. No issues, very little pain. Had Catheter in until Friday morning. Removed it myself (very easy and painless process). The only hiccup was I couldnt void for almost 7 hours. Actually went to the ER and while waiting I finally voided twice. I am doing fine now, very little blood in urine. Hoping the stream gets stronger with time.

Im 75 years old and considering aquablation. My prostate isnt huge and my pvr isnt terrible. But im on 3 meds , my stream is very weak and some nights im up 3 or 4 times and some days but not always urinate a dozen times during the day. I want to get off the meds.
Concerned about the recovery as my wife and i have travel plans
Have you been able to resume sex,
Athletics etc

@donk7 - I'm nearly 72 and had aquablation three months ago. Like you, my prostate wasn't huge but I experienced all the uncomfortable BPH symptoms plus I was on two meds that were providing marginal success. The process was performed at Mayo JAX. I had the procedure on Tuesday. Overnight for observation. Back to our VRBO for balance of Tues, Wed, and Thurs. Had a flow test plus the catheter was removed removed Thurs afternoon. Then seven hour drive home on Friday.

Yes to both sex and athletics. No after effects. No more BPH meds. My stream is like 40 years ago.
Good luck! It took maybe four weeks for me to feel 100% - but that pause was worth it to me...

Hello Phil. Your story and that of others on the discussion have given me a wealth of information to make an informed decision about the Aquablation procedure and its efficacy. I currently reside in the Jacksonville Fl area very near the Mayo Clinic and would like to know if you could recommend the Urologist who performed your procedure? I would like to schedule a consultation to see if I can get some relief. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advanced.

@dink2024 - Glad to help in any way. My Mayo JAX urologist was Dr. Dora - but the way Mayo works, I spent very little time with Dr. Dora - rather I interacted with PA's and others in the urology Dept. Since there is really nothing too ticklish about aquablation, I wasn't worried about my limited contact with Dr. Dora. In the end, I requested that Dr Dora do the actual procedure - but I'm not even sure that makes much difference.

What else can I tell you?

FYI I had Aquablation 13 days ago. Just had sex without issue other than RE. Honestly, I couldnt tell the difference without the sperm, I have a younger girlfriend so I'm wondering if we need to bother with birth control measures. I'll have to ask my Urologist.

What is RE ?

@nolivap99 - RE means retrograde ejaculation. With RE, when you reach the point of release, the semen enters the bladder instead of being ejaculated outside the body via the penis. Orgasmic intensity is usually unaffected though there is little/no actual ejaculate present.
