So, things start off fine. Foreplay exciting. But, shortly after beginning intercourse erection is gone. ED or some sort of psychological issue?

@laughlin1947 - Good morning. I do not know the names of the bio-identical drugs used. Maybe I should? My pellets are compounded especially for me with dosage driven by my specific hormone levels at the time. I'd suggest you search for "compounded drugs" on the net and learn about this part of pharmacology that is generally not understood by the general public. I first started using a compounded drug to treat ED as directed by my Mayo docs. I trusted them not to steer me wrong.

I have read many concerning articles about the side effects of HRT.

You are actually discussing what can be two different issues: (1) ED and (2) Low libido. For me, management includes two different strategies. Hip-inserted bio-identical pellets for low-T and syringe-injected tri-mix to manage ED. Both treatments are necessary.

Does that help?

Yes, thank you so much for the info. I'll stop bugging you now. I don't think the injections will be anything I'll ever do again. My trials with it were way less than satisfactory. Anyway, I'll just work out a strategy with my endocrinologist and I'm hopeful there is light at the end of the tunnel. Seems like this should not be so difficult of a problem to solve knowing that so many men are affected. The urologists are preoccupied with treating UTIs and whatnot.

@laughlin1947 - No bugging at all. Fun to discuss such topics, I find.

Best of luck. Never give up. Understand that you have to drive the process.

The injections I refer to are not injections of testosterone but rather injections of compounded tri-mix which occurs immediately before intimacy begins. Maybe that fact reduces the spontaneity of activities a bit - but the end result is well worth it!!!

Check for arterial sclerosis. Can be a major problem with ED.

I recently went to a highly qualified urologist, and he was equally unhelpful. He immediately went to the only options for me were 1.) Injections (probably Trimix), and 2.) Penile implant.
nothing else. Then he rushed out of the room and that was it for my appt. He dismissed my claim that free testosterone should be looked at. I do take losartan 50 mg and 200 mg of gabapentin, and I showed him my meds list and he barely glanced at the list, saying none of those are responsible. I'm trying another urologist soon as well as a surgeon who specializes in the penile implants. Still gotta press on with the doctors. Most act like they could care less. Read the blogs on this Mayo Clinic website, you must be ab advocate for yourself. Read up. If you go online, look at anecdotal videos of men of all ages and what they went thru before getting to get a penile implant.

I had a similar experience with my PCP and urologist. My PCP honestly was not educated in ED stuff. Most PCPs are not. I got a new urologist and he is much better. I find we (us patients) need to educate ourselves and help the urologists come to medical conclusions. All I can advise is never quit trying to live your best life. My hormones got screwed up by an HRT program. My testosterone was way too high which raised my estradiol. This caused ED where even ED oral meds did not work. My hormones after 2 months are back to normal after I adjusted my testosterone injections. At least now when I take oral ED medication it works.
