Biopsy Needed For Lungs
I had a Pet Scan and my dr. said twice he thought it was Cancer and I need a lung biopsy and to call the next day to set up an appointment. I live in Schenectady, formerly down in GA. Well I called last wee, I called today and can't get a live person. All I hear is leave a message and we will get back to you in 5 to 7 days regarding your problem. I have no idea what to do now. Called my dr's office and the girl said she would see if she can get me into Albany Med Hospital for the test and someone would get back to me. How long should I wait. To me, I've not felt well since last May, they accidently found the nodules on my lungs in October, and here it is May a year later and I still don't know what is going on. Where can I go to get a biopsy. Are all hospitals that understaffed and lack of medical equipment as I'm told. I am very nervous about this. I thought when I moved to NYS I would get better health options but evidently not!

Hi, I live near you in Ballston Lake NY. Do you have a pulmonologist, if so what is he or she's name? I have been diagnosed with MAC disease and have a node on my lung. I am seeing a Infectious Disease Dr. in Glens Falls and also a pulmonary Dr. in Schenectady. Hopefully it's not the same Dr. that I am seeing. If it isn't, I will give you the name of my Dr., I see him this coming week. Maybe he can help you.
@dablues82
You have one of the best cancer hospitals in New York City- Memorial Sloan Kettering.
Also, your physician should help you get the appointment for your biopsy.
I'm seeing Dr. Schaffer in Albany. Let me know who he is. I see my dr. on the 14th but couldn't get my biopsy done at St. Peters in Albany until July so I have to go to Troy which I'm not looking forward to on the 29th of May.
They don't have one in Rochester, NY. It's in Rochester, MN
I saw that sfter the fact my appologies.
No inconvenience. That's ok. I thought it was Rochester, NY too!
I have a appointment on the 29th in Troy, NY. Disappointed where but I'll go As far as treatments will see what happens after the biopsy. At my age I don't know what I want to do. I'm working on some things to help myself if it works. That I don't know. If it's bad I don't think I want to put that stuff in my body, but tha'ts what I'm saying now. I'm too old. So I guess it is a wait and see situation. Thanks for for your input. They have new treatment with magnets but that is just for the brain I think. It's done with freauencies I think. If so and it works, would be great if they could do something like that for all cancers instead of taking chemo.
@dablues82, one step at a time. The biopsy is a good next step. Do you know what type of biopsy they are planning for; bronchoscopy where they'll go down the throat?
I agree with those who suggest Mayo Clinic. You can call scheduling yourself without a referral but having a referral along with your test results and scan imaging shared with pulmonologist at Mayo would help speed up the process.
I’m a patient at Mayo Clinic in Rochester and have been for over 10 years. It’s an amazing place. I’m so grateful to all the Dr’s and staff that I have had caring for me through the years.
Their pulmonary department is amazing,
How did you make out at your appointment?
