Anxiety and running my life

Hi there. I am a 38 yr old male who suffers from severe anxiety. My doctor in past put me on Sertraline but it never helped. I got a new PCP and he put me on Wellbutrin. It started out at 150mg. I had an appt today and told him it wasn’t working. He upped my dose to 300mg at night. Has anyone had any luck with this medication for anxiety? TIA

Did the Physician tell you to specifically take it at night. Typically Wellbutrin is taken in the am as it can interfere with sleep. To me it was a much easier medication to take that putting up with the side effects of the SSRI's and SSNRI's. You probably will have to take it for 6-8 weeks before realizing a significant change if in fact it will work for you. Not typically, in my experience, used to treat anxiety. Am trying Sertraline now at 12.5 mg but the side effects are unpleasant, ....somnolence, GI disturbances....but I'll give it a couple of weeks then see.
Hope you will gain benefit! And feel better!

Yes the doc said take at night. I’m not sure. I know it’s long lasting but I was also taking the 150 at night. I just need to find something. 😞

I have been on depression and anxiety meds for several years now. I have been on many different ones and some that you are asking about. I’m thinking they affect everyone differently, some I can’t take because they make me feel very weird … like feeling worse anxiety, out of body anyway not a good feeling for me. The two that work best for me are Fluoxetine and Alprazolam . I take both every nite and occasionally I will take a smaller mg of Alprazolam in the morning if I feel the anxiety about the day ahead of me. (Not very often needed) and I never feel that weird feeling…..I can’t really tell I’ve taken it except that I could not guite my mind if I hadn’t taken it. You have to be careful because they could be addictive. This might help and they do not take weeks to work . Ask your Dr. of course if he thinks they are right for you. Anxiety is not fun!!! Good luck to you!
