Timing of Reclast Infusion after your last Evenity Injection.

I missed the 210 vs 140. The charts don't read well on my screen. Of course a half dose is 105 not 140, but, still, reassuring. Thanks!

I am completing my Evenity injections at the end of May, 2024. My next medication will probably be Reclast.
My Osteoporosis MD is retiring end of June.
He is a rheumatologist based in NYC and connected with NYU Langone.
Does anyone have any recommendations for NYC based MD's who specialize in the treatment of Osteoporosis?

I finish Evenity this month and have an infusion of Reclast next month. Both my endocrinologist and my rheumatologist recommend this. Other people are getting different opinions from their doctors.

For what it’s worth, my rheumatologist wants me to have the next med (Reclast, Prolia . . . ) within a month of my last Evenity injections at the end of June. The belief is that the bone that is built will quickly break down and gains can be lost if too much time passes prior to administering the next med.

Insurance companies will only approve DEXA’s every two years - my latest one happened to coincide with being halfway through the treatments and I had great improvement which helped me know that “it” was all worth it. It would make a good argument for insurance companies to approve annual DEXA scans for those of us who have had fractures and/or are prescribed bone builders. In checking the costs of a scan, I found locally that they aren’t really terribly expensive and self pay might be an option for those of us who want or need to know the treatments are working. Cheers!

I will have my first doses of Evenity in a little over a week., and then every 28 days for 1 year followed by Reclast as well.
There is some comfort in Drs agreeing!

I have a friend that the Evenity shot was given under both of her armpits. Her arms hurt for a few days. Is that common?

I had my last Evenity April 9th and was due for another one May 9th. But I am not going to have that 5th dose. I will do Reclast on June 12. If I lose some bone in that month, so be it. My body needs a break after 5 years of cancer meds, two years of Tymlos, and 4 months of Evenity. My doc said there was "no rush" and Evenity "takes time to mineralize" so he is fine with this timing. I will do a "test dose" of Reclast and see what I can tolerate.

We are the same path. I have my last Evenity dose next friday.

I have been receiving the Evenity injections in an infusion center which has been fine. The Reclast I will receive at the rheumatologist office.
Yesterday, I spoke to the RN who does the infusion. She said that I could slow the infusion down as much as I wanted.
She also advised about hydration and Tylenol.
I will follow instructions and hope for best.
I asked that their office order a dexa. The nurse said that insurance only pays for it every two years. I told her that I would pay for it myself.
It’s crazy to take a year of Evenity and not want a dexa at the end of it.
Also, crazy that Medicare would pay $5,639.15 for Evenity every month for 12 months, but not pay $300 for a dexa.

Better check on that, with billing and insurance. I had a DEXA in April of 2023 at the beginning of Evenity shots. I am also on Medicare and supplemental insurance and when I called to set up my follow-up DEXA after a full year of Evenity, I was told there would be no problem since I had an osteoporosis diagnosis, and it was paid. I owed nothing. My doctor wasn't aware either.

I had my first Reclast infusion yesterday. I was terribly nervous but I was lucky that the two nurses who did the infusion were wonderful! They made all the difference for me. I asked for 1 hour infusion and hydrated and took Tylenol before and after. I am feeling pretty good today so I'm grateful for that.
