Vent away! For myself it is the best way to work it down to something more manageable. I know way more about families and cancer than any one person has a right to know.
The realistic answer is we don’t have all the answers. There are more answers all the time but we may never know all the answers about why families are wiped out by cancer (“we” meaning the human race).
My genetic testing consisted of BRCA 1 and 2, and then years later they tested for a few more that they learned about, and found out I have hits from both sides of my family. I am imagining 20 years from now there will be even more answers.
Your daughters have some hard times coming their way, but hopefully that buys them some pretty great time too.
How are you?💕❤️💕
Dear Cherl and comrades of fighting the cancer disease:
Just put in my 2-cents: as far as I know, testing for genetic mutations is part of genetic testing. For when they conducted the genetic testing for me, they concluded that I do not have any abnormal genetic mutations against all known genes that caused cancers. I am relieved for my own relatives to know that I do not carry any genes with abnormal mutations, but here I am still with this cancer disease; perhaps caused by stress or some other factors?
My daughter had genetic testing after I developed BC - even though as far as we know no other women in my family have ever had it. She was surprised when told only about 10% of BC is genetic. I said I could have told her that for free!

@auntieoakley, @mir123 and Laurie @roch thank you for your support and encouragement. You have become a mentor to a mentor. Good job! I wanted to acknowledge this during the mentor zoom meeting water cooler chat today but it didn’t seem relevant at the time. I’m “ok ish” to steal a phrase of my youngest daughter.
