@dawn_giacabazi, I can imagine how painful that must be. @lnda or @jenport, you both have talked about your severe cramps in prior discussions - do you have any suggestions for Dawn? I found some info on muscle cramps, which also includes methods to relieve the pain: http://mayocl.in/291xgoJ.
@dawn_giacabazi, are there certain times of the day where the cramps are worse?
Thank you for the response and the link. Link was my first go to place 2 weeks ago. Tried home remedies including biofeedback heat & ice. Evenings are the worse. But do get them troughout the day and after excersie. Drink 150oz of mineral enhanced water.
@dawn_giacabazi, I was struck by your consumption of 150 ounces of mineral enhanced water. That's nearly 20 8-ounce glasses. Isn't that a lot? Have your labs shown a shortage of sodium? Or potassium? My nephrologist advised me to back off even plain water because I was "overloading" at 48 ounces a day. Because I am hypokalemic, I get cramps in my calves, usually during the night. That has been relieved recently by drinking pure coconut water (not coconut milk), which is high in potassium -- about a pint a day, replacing the prune juice I loved, plus a quart of filtered spring water.
My mayo clinic doc says I need half my body wt in water. I take 2 diaretics, I have secondary aldosteronism which causes hypokalemic and hyponatremic. But my serium levels were good
Ask your doctor for a 10 mg. prescription dosage of Cyclobenzaprine.

I had severe cramps at night and that took them away.

irvvay312
I will do! Thank you.
Years ago, I read a “Field & Stream” article about how a tablespoon or two of yellow mustard would ease the cramping, works for me!
Eat pickles! The vinegar helps to aleve the cramp in under 5 minutes. Try it, it works!
hello, please try drinking lots of water. i used to get similar cramps and,
apart from my daily consumption, i drink *one litre of water* on waking
(before tea/coffee/breakfast). also, *one or two glasses* immediately
before sleeping. helped me immensely. cramps more often than not are due to
dehydration.hope this helps you also. take care and all the best, ricky.
I'm a 62-y/o grandma who takes 4 ballroom dance classes on Thursdays and dances a large part of the time at three-hour dances. I drink a lot of water at the dances and I sweat a lot. When I get home I drink one or two tonic waters (they taste terrible!). If I don't do that, I get thigh, calf and foot cramps that make me scream. Tonic water tastes terrible but it's worth it. That's what my doctor told me to try, and that is what helps me. I hope you find a solution soon.
