Muscle relaxers?

I was recently given an atrial tachycardia diagnosis. My episodes come and go and at the present time they’ve gone(knocking on the proverbial wood here 🙂
I’m also experiencing some recent neck pain. My primary care doctor prescribed some muscle relaxers. But reading the information sheet, I see that one of the possible side effects is a fast or abnormal heartbeat and so I’m reluctant to take any. Your thoughts on or experiences with muscle relaxers? It is only a 5 mg tablet.

I’d discuss it with my cardiologist for sure. I’ve taken muscle relaxers in the past, but they never did much for me. Everyone is different though. I couldn’t tell I took them.

Is this Flexeril by any chance? I was prescribed it three decades ago for a sore back, and it made me exceedingly sleepy for about an hour afterwards. Took maybe half an hour after ingestion, with supper, and then I was bonked for at least an hour. But, I don't recall it also making my heart race. I didn't notice it if it did.

Maybe try half a tablet if it is a tablet. Wait for a few hours, and if you get the desired effect, or halfway there, but no racing heart, you should be okay? I would never counsel you to double a dose of a drug, but halving it as a trial might help to alleviate any fears.

I just looked an it says a fast AND irregular pulse/heartbeat indicates overdose. What's an overdose you might ask? Beats me, but mebbe your prescription constitutes most of the way there....for you. Run it past your doc.

I hope you come back and report how the half-dose went, and if you went on to try the prescribed dose again. But, do talk to your prescribing authority.
