Support Group for Those of Us Living With Mild Dementia
I know there is a Dementia Caregiver Support Group.
I would like to have a group for people like me. I am entering the Mild Dementia phase from Mild Cognitive Impairment.
It’s frightening to think about my future.
Could a group for Dementia Patients be started?

Thank you for your reply Susan Ellen. It does help to hear from people who have had the same things going on. I have never looked at a blog before.
I can relate. I was diagnosed w MCI two years ago. GPS has become a valued companion. Tech drives me bonkers! And I used to spell much, much better than I do now...
Hi Susan,
Check out Dementia Map.com. It's a great resource for Dementia patients, Caregivers and families living with Dementia and Alzheimer's. They have more than 500 members and offer an excellent way to connect with each other.
Hi. I was just diagnosed as having Mild NCD. I too was diagnosed by a neurologist and a PhD in NeuroPsych. She did hours of testing. He did an MRI (normal volume for age) and gene testing (E3-E4 ) and some other tests included an ATM test showing tau value consistent with Alzheimer’s.
Are there others in this group with this? I believe it is distinct from MCI - but is that a distinction without a difference?
Would like to swap notes.
Pam
I co-lead a virtual 4 week group series that focuses on emotional development. It is made up of people with MCI, dementia, care partners, family , friends & helping professionals. Starts May 4th. Sponsored by http://www.eastsideinstitute.org, Creating New Performances of Memory Loss, Dementia & Growing Older.
Let me know if you would ike info.
I have posted on Ageing Well.
I am also having problems spelling, and remembering appointments, and getting housework done. I’ve also had problems with paying bills.
I paid a bill for $800 twice 4 months ago, still not sure if I’ve been reimbursed, another bill I didn’t pay and got a shut off letter.
Didn’t pay the lot rent and got a letter for that, paid a $3000 bill twice for vet care, luckily l was able to tell them to cancel one payment before it got on the books. Last month I had a $900 bill and paid $1,500. I had asked my husband to help me, so he made sure I paid each bill but didn’t check how much I paid ! Sometimes I’m upset about it, other times I have to laugh.

Oh boy, I have mild stage Alzheimer’s Dementia. I’m single so I have to be careful.
I never have to write checks myself to pay my bills. I let the bank, and the billers deal directly with each other through a “Bill Pay” system. All I have to do is make sure there is enough money in my account. My income checks are directly deposited into my checking account.
Please check with your bank or credit union about their Bill Pay system. It is a great help.
My checks are automatically deposited into my account and I use Bill Pay to pay for most of the bills but I still put in the amount to pay. I have a hard time trusting companies to have free will in what they take, but I’m not doing any better, I’m giving them more than the bill, so I can’t trust myself either.
I’ll check with the bank, thank you.
Another thing is the Scams these days, hard to distinguish sometimes.
Thank you for your response.
This group would be of interest for me as I was diagnosed with mild cognitive dementia last year. I would love to know ways to prevent further progression of this disease and coping mechanisms.

I was diagnosed with MCI 3 years ago. I was not given any advice on things I could do to slow it down. What I did was to start completing 1000 piece puzzles, and painting.
Just recently, after more testing, I was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Dementia I really don’t believe there is anything that can be done to stop this disease including the new medicine, Lequembi.
