Low Dose Naltrexone and Neuropathy
Hi everyone. Lori Renee here. I have been on Low Dose Naltrexone for about 2 weeks. It may be too soon to post about this medication, but I thought I would post now, and post again, in about 2-4 weeks. Bottom line is that Low Dose Naltrexone has helped considerably with my foot neuropathy. My pain is sometime gone, and usually only reaches a level 5 or so, sometimes. Usually, it is about a 2-3, kind on a low level foot throbbing. Enough to be annoying, but not enough to want to cut my feet off. Without it, I wanted to cut my feet off. Certain problems do remain, so my feet are far from normal still. I put on shoes, and feel like my socks are bunched up, or that there are pebbles in them. It takes me a long time to find a shoe to wear. The balls of my feet still feet like they have been stuck in cement, but not all the time. My toes still feel stuck together, or too widely spread. All crazy sensations of neuropathy. So Low Dose Naltrexone has not taken all the crazies away. However, the pain is so much lower, that I am amazed. I have only used Kratom once in two weeks, which is remarkable. I have no side effects at all from the drug. It is not covered by my Medicare insurance, but is about 35 bucks a month. Not too bad. Anyway, it really is the best pain killer I have tried, other than Kratom. I don't have to taste the vile Kratom, so that is very good. I suggest that everyone give it a try. I read that it helps approximately 25% to 40% of people that try it. The endorphin rush it produces is loaded with pain fighters. Yes, give it a try. I will post again about it, as I use it more. Low dose worked for me at lower doses. I did not need to crush and dilute mine, but yes, the Rx must be obtained from a compounding pharmacy or mail service and does cost more. An Rx discount service like GoodRx or others may help with the expense. The relief was worth it. Higher doses caused daytime drowsiness and heart racing for me, even if taken before bed the night before, but these reactions are supposedly rare.
Searching under scholarly articles, (subject of interest) in Google will filter out junk results and yield mostly peer-reviewed medical journal results.

I am now taking 2 x 25 mg Pregabalin-1 Alpha Lipoic Acid capsule and 1/2-1 Tramadol in the morning for the pain-if I wanted to try the LDN, can I take it with what I am currently taking and when would I take the LDN?
I was told no opioid with LDN. I either am allergic or have bad reactions to pain meds. I have been trying for months to work up to 4.5 mg. First I had heart problems with it. Was told to go up more gradually. Have been on 3.5 for over a month because of reaction going to 4.0. Just started last night once again to try 4.0. Hopefully my body will react only as it should!
My pain management doctor takes LDN and his testimony keeps me trying to be more pain free. I do have a spinal cord stimulator implanted and hoping to have a more effective placement of new stim implanted soon.
So the stimulator worked for you? It did not for me-tried the Boston Scientific and the Nevro and neither did one did one thing in reducing the pain level. Was so counting on one of them to work so I could get back to a life!!
So I could not take Tramadol then if I were going to try the LDN for pain? That's disheartening!! The pregabalin does not do alot for me except make me "loopy"!!
I found thatvthe equipment for Boston Scientific is great. However, the same doctor who implanted my first in 2012 also implanted my second in 2018 and did a bad job the second time. I am looking at a third implant to deal with my foot pain that the current doesn't do so well for. A different doctor will do it. I wouldn't Gove up on the product. Did the doctor have you go through a trial? My pain management doctor put a temporary stim in so I could see if the placement was good for my feet. It was fantastic. It was the first time out of bed without pain.
I was taking 400mg of Lyrica & now I’m down to 50 or 100mgs. I have no pain at all ~ just numbness. I take 4.5 mg of LDN in the morning with no obvious side effects. It cost me $43 for 90 day supply at Publix compound pharmacy ~ it has changed my life for the better. It took about 3 months to really kick in & I’m sticking with it.

You will have to stop the Tramadol.
Do you mind if I ask where is a Publix compounding pharmacy? I didn’t know the did compounding. I pay $54 for a 30 day supply of LDN.
