Are 84 pvcs an hour excessive?

My pacemaker report showed I was having 84 pvcs an hour. Is that an excessive amount? I am feeling palpitations but not excessively.

Ablation is considered primarily for people who really have a tough time, mentally, or symptomatically, with the arrhythmia in question. Some stages in some arrhythmias are relatively benign, and the medicos don't really want to invade your body....unless...you complain frequently and vociferously that it makes you feel terrible, winded, anxious, keeps you from falling asleep (some sufferers are find throughout the day, but night-time is when their hearts begin ectopy), and so on.

A 10% burden of pretty much any PVC, PAC, or SVT places you at the threshold of the danger zone where your heart may begin to lose ground to exhaustion, heart failure, with some variance between individuals. or even to encourage progression or evolution to more intractable arrhythmias. Hearts experiencing even short runs of ectopy will often want to keep on doing it. The aphorism in the atrial fibrillation community is that 'AF begets AF.' The mechanism still isn't well understood, but there's a lot of data to suggest that ectopy places a strain on the lining endothelial tissues of the chambers, particularly the left atrium. The LA will begin to stretch and enlarge due to the multiple contractions that it makes while the ventricle below it is keeping the mitral valve closed during its own powerful contractions to get oxygenated blood out to the organs and muscles....and brain. The stretching causes lesions which cause fibrosis, or scarring. This change in morphology doesn't reverse itself well, although there is also evidence that some reversal of atrial enlargement takes place...a modest amount.
Once again, the threshold for an ablation procedure should be discussed with an electrophysiologist and you. Ideally, you want it done before your arrhythmia, and the associated subtrate and remodeling changes that alter the heart's function and structure, advance to the point where even an ablation is unlikely to work. Get an ablation when you're still paroxysmal, and not when you're in persistent AF.

I'm in my thirties and on my on my Z.patch it said I had 4,700 epc.and 12 days . Answer my highest heart rate was 133 by lowest heart rate was 42. I had several other PVCs and pacs and. In a couple of stvs and . my EPA team said there was nothing to worry about. That's why you have a pacemaker so it kicks in when you need it. And that's why you're on the Metropol when you need it and and stay on the the coroner . I have a Payless pacemaker in paces when I need it. Half the time I didn't even know I was having that many episodes

@denisek1971

I’m a fairly new (Feb. 4, 24) PVC sufferer @23.8% burden. I’ve tried atenolol and flecainide which both made my symptoms 100x worse. EP is out of town, but meet in a week. He mentioned ablation and pacemaker. I’ve read anything over 10% burden is too much. What is the typical threshold for ablation ?

@denisek1971 I will be monitoring post as would like same information. I did start sometime back on Mexilitine (spell) to help with LV VTAC which is did. However it seemed to make PACs and PVCs worse.

I now see you mentioned that your medicine you took actually did same thing. My PVCs and PACs went up dramatically. I have a holter monitor test coming up to see where my increased PACs and PVCs are coming from and them EP will decide treatments.
Good luck,

I believe there are many and varied reasons why an ablation is performed. I had an ablation to curtail me from needing cardioverted , shocked back into rhythm, to stop my a fib. I needed cardioverted 4 times in 6 months. I was placed on an anti arrhythmic, Multaq in hopes that this would help. However this med worsened my kidney function. Both my cardiovascular and electrophysiologist agreed an ablation was the next step.

I was reading on one of the post on him you mentioned about the pvc's pacs and the epic runs I did not know that the epic runs. Ruined the heart we had too many cuz I might zeal patch I had 7, 422. What several Lorenz of PVCs and pacs and a couple of STDs but I did not my AP team did not tell me anything dangerous about the EPA. Like I said I didn't know I was having some sometimes it just feels like a twitching but I didn't know I was having it. Thanks for letting us all know about it. I hope you're doing better at GrahamO322. You caffeine can make more PVCs and anxiety and caffeine. Stressed low blood pressure. Not having enough of potassium. Thyroid problems. Mostly they say if you have 33 in one 1 minute that's concerning. And that's PVCs
