@mikaylar Will your cervical fusion be multilevel? Yours is the first I’ve heard for computer guidance in a cervical surgery. Some are done as minimally invasive and others like mine were not. The surgeon has a much better view if it is not minimally invasive.

Mine have been computer guided. The radiologist's report on the follow up said "The alignment is virtually anatomic."

@denheels Thanks for enlightening me. That sounds like a good thing. My surgeon told me when you fuse a cervical level, it causes it to dump forward a bit because it is aligned straight. The normal alignment for the neck is to curve backward which they call the lordotic curve. Some surgeons do a “curve correction “ and put the lordosis back in and that will affect the ability to bend forward.

C5-6 is all I know. Goes in through the front of my neck.

I had ACDF done on C-4 thru C-7.C-4 5 fused completely C-5 6 and C-6 7 didn’t since then I had 2 more surgeries to fix my neck.If you have a choice use your bone if possible.Rather then allograft.

Had C4-C5, C5-C6 anterior approach fusion. Hardware placed. Immediate relief. 5 years later still doing well.

Whew I needed that. Thank you.

I also have had cervical fusions, twice. The C 5-6 and C 6-7 and they are much easier in my opinion than my back surgeries. My recoveries were fairly easy . Good luck!

Although it’s been 23 years since C5-6, C6-7 disec & C7 spurs were tapered & a 4 cms allograft was used vs harvesting from my iliac(hip). Post op period was easy. All instructions were followed & important using proper body mechanics ie when elevating from bed & forward flexion. Best wishes.

What do you mean by proper body mechanics?
