Severe gout: What treatment approach helps you?

Posted by jack519 @jack519, Jun 26, 2023

Had gout several times in past years. After x-rays and blood test, Rheumatology Dr. claims I have severe gout. I am 82 and have been on Prednisone since mid-Apr. with no benefit. Has anyone tried a dietary supplement called "Urcinol"?

2nd response! I am 84 years old. Had severe gout attack in right ankle about 30 years ago. MD gave me shot, I think cortisone.
Put me on Allopurinol which treats gout. No attack since. I do watch amount of wine and red meat. HA!
Good luck. Needle shot in right ankle. Immediate relief. I left crutches with Docter.

I have used Tart Cherry from supermarket. I usually get it from Sprouts in capsule form, but it is available at a lot places. It takes a day, but it helps a lot in case you cannot get a prescription right away.

Sorry for the delay and yes it is 300mg per day.
I had the painful needle stick 50 years ago, but the doctor missed the joint the first two times it was horrible. Hopefully the Allopurinol will work for you. God bless you.

Now that it’s warmer weather cherries are a great way to beat gout. You can also buy frozen sweet or tart cherries too. And the medications work well as does diet control but not eating those offending foods.
