Anyone have extreme itchy back?
Just curious if anyone has extreme itching of your back . I have COPD, MAC and Bronchiectasis. This itch seems deep in the tissue. The sensation is a cross between itching/pain and numbness. Scratching does make it feel better. It feels like something is "there"

As soon as I started using the nebulizer with saline, I noticed itching all over. I'm not on any other meds, so I thought it was the saline. My pulmonologist and dermatologist think it's highly unlikely. Lotions help for awhile, but the itching comes back, usually worse in the evening. This is a real mystery. Of course, I'm grateful for the nebulizer to keep infections at bay, but the itching is driving me crazy! It's so easy for my husband to say "don't scratch", so I hide my wooden back scratcher in the drawer!
Has anyone with MAC used Combivent res.? My primary doctor just prescribed this for me because I had about of pneumonia. She says it will dry up the mucus, but I am not sure about using it. I have not gotten in to see the infectious medicine doctor yet about the MAC. I’ve been waiting for a few months. Should I use it or not?
Yes, I have itching in my mid back and use a back scratcher gently. The itching is just in my mid back. Could it be lung related? I don't know. But after nebulizing I do feel a "pressure" in my mid back on the right side.
Yes!! I absolutely have an extreme itchy back! I have MAC and bronchiectasis and I am on Rifabutin and Azithromycin. I wondered if there was a connection!
Yes, I have had this for years...right in the middle of my back. Been checked and checked and nothing wrong. It is not dry skin or a rash or anything. Mine is kind of tingly and itchy. Right over the spine. Crazy!
Hello, I would like to give you some support for what you are feeling and say that I also suffer from this strange symptom, for years.
I have had the itching in middle of back for several years. Was diagnosed with MAC Sept of '23. Not on Meds yet, but have been dealing with excruciating pain in the upper right side of back ( shoulder blade area) for 4 months. ID and Pulmo Dr's said it's not coming from MAC. No one can get to the bottom of it. I think it may be gastro related but don't see her until May. The MAC is in my right lung. That area also itches sometimes as well as the pain. I may resort to taking the Big 3 just to see if it helps with the pain. Thank you everyone for all the information you share. I don't feel alone.
My doctor said it was probably not the big three, but rather from the MAC.
I don't know.
Harry
My back always itches. Everyday!!
I read somewhere that it has a link to possible liver issues. I wish I could remember where I read it and what the details were.
