It was maddening until I found out what it is. Just getting thinner skin as I age :). Like my late Mom. Wonder if it’s genetic also. Mostly mine don’t bleed unless the skin is scratched off. Fortunately not too often

I used to have these burned (liquid nitrogen) off until my dermatologist told me it was losing proposition. So as hard as it is, live with the little brown spots. The ones to come with every decade will be larger. Then you start to get the purpura (superficial blood bruises)

The prices we pay for not using enough sun screen, or just age and fair skin … but skin gets weak and thin and it’s just been hard to avoid it. 🙂

I would say go gangbusters early with lotions containing hyaluronic acid and collagen.

That’s so interesting. Lately, I’ve been noticing new spots everyday. My dr. said they were a normal part of aging but everyday? My skin is very fair and the only time I’m out in the sun is to walk my dog. I’m going to a Dermatologjst next week for other issues as well so we’ll see what she thinks about this. Could anxiety or meds be a contributing factor?

Oh you set the clock on that sun damage long ago. Doesn’t matter what the sun is doing today.

I use to have the brown/red bruised arms mostly but they diminished for some reason. I think it was due to my taking collagen w/peptides. We lose that when we age.

@bagile43... Hello there. I reviewed your post and photos the other day when I had an MFR (myofascial release therapy). I have had spots like yours frequently in the last year. My therapist told me not to worry. She said they are a feature of aging, with skin becoming thinner. I have SFN (small fiber neuropathy), and I was worried that they might be more than just annoying to see on my legs and arms. However, I have been watching them more carefully and notice they disappear quickly without leaving any scary or dry, flaky skin.
How are yours doing now? Do you have them around your knees?

May you be safe, protected and free from inner and outer harm.
Chris

Lucky you! May I ask what do you take? I have so many brown spots on my arms and face. My doctor tells me it’s just aging. I can’t accept that.

I find it quite interesting that you think brown / red bruised arms were due to collagen peptides. I have never read this and was wondering if you may have read this somewhere, and was this based on any studies or comments of others who may have the same opinion. I am 78 years old and have been taking collagen peptides for some time now and do have some spots. Thanks

First of all everyone has a unique physiology and yes I have small brown spots too, age related I'm sure. However the bruises from the smallest rub or bump and the introduction of collagen peptides could be (for me anyway) could be coincidence. A happy one at that. I have so many other ills that having one victory is wonderful. I had a whole year of lesions on my lower extremities that were finally healed on Valentine's Day! That left horrible scars and big brown spots.

You will never like it. It makes me furious to this date. But although the effect ranges from a nuisance level to a truly problematic level, it’s rare for anyone to escape the cost of sun and accumulates years on our skin.
