For peripheral neuropathy in my feet I use Alpha Lipoic Acid and Compression Socks. This does ease my pain.

How much lipoic acid do you take a day? Also, is there a brand you recommend? Thanks.

I live in Canada and purchase the Alpha Lipoic Acid at Shopper's Drug Mart. Their brand is called Life and I take 600mg a day.

@ripley
I take 600 mg per day for small fiber neuropathy pain in feet/calves and you can buy it online at Amazon or any drug/vitamin store or Walmart/Target.

Here is a link to what I just bought recently.

The only pain relief I have gotten for nerve pain was using Salonpas lidocaine pain patches (unscented) and capsaicin pain creams for spine/joint/muscle pain and alpha Lipoic acid supplements for small fiber nerve pain.

Spinal injections of steroid and lidocaine have helped with peripheral nerve pain in lumbar spine that radiates to hips/buttocks/legs.

The Lipoic acid, I take a lot of Vitamins, not over the counter. My Endocrinologist suggested. I would have to find out if I should take it. Thank You AGAIN!

I do think the spinal injections depend on a good doctor with a good technique and that they do the injections at the right levels (I have had good ones with limited pain and others who caused extreme pain). Have you had a MR Neurogram done to image your nervous system to identify where nerve damage is and where to do injections/other treatments with the most benefit for pain management for you? I will pray for you to get help and some pain relief. It must be so hard for you to deal with this pain.
