I was told that I had asthma for 15 years. I got pneumonia and had a CT scan and found out that it is pulmonary fibrosis.

Since you have asthma, can you ask your primary md for a steroid burst. At least by the time you see pulm md next month, you will have more info if you responded well or not to steroid burst. Sorry, cough at night is horrible, I am just getting over being sick, not fun!

My spouse went through the "It must be allergies" response for (only) three years, he finally went to a teaching /research hospital and discovered that he has IPF. Apparently, pulmonary fibrosis is the last condition (most of them work on a "rule-out" system encouraged by the insurance companies) pulmonologists look for—many, many people go through the same process and discover that they have not been suffering from asthma or allergies but IPF. I hope you find a well-practiced pulmonologist soon. Sometimes, I think the condition can be stopped from getting worse, but last we knew, that's rare.
