7% Sodium Chloride & Medicare B
My doctor sent a prescription to Rite Aid for 7% Sodium Chloride nebulizer solution, but Rite Aid is telling me that the Medicare website is down (for several weeks now) so they can't check whether my Medicare B would cover the cost. Otherwise, Rite Aid charges over $100 for the solution. Any suggestions on how to get around this?

My wife’s doctor just increased her to the 7% 4 mL twice daily. She just got it in Walgreens using Good RX. She paid $10 something for 60 vials (a one month supply). She checked with Medicare and they do not cover this.

That so strange! My local pharmacy charges $70 for 7% inhalation solution and Rite Aid over $100. It doesn't add up that Walgreens would charge $10. In any case, I wouldn't feel comfortable asking my doctor to call a third pharmacy for this same prescription.
Do you refer to Medicare or Medicare B?
I would download the Good RX app to your phone. Then you can put in the medication and see all the prices from various pharmacies. Then if you find one ask that drug store to just transfer the prescription to them. Your doctor does not need to be involved. Or, ask the pharmacies that you mentioned what your price would be with Good RX.
We were told Neither would cover it.
That's important information for me. I know now that I must move on to get this solution. Thank you.
I've never heard of Good RX before. Also, I do appreciate your explaining that a pharmacy could forward my prescription to another pharmacy. I was not aware that this could be done. I have my homework set up now for obtaining this solution. Thank you.
I learned that it is the best to have a paper written prescription from a doctor. Then you can check the prices on the Rx site and just go to the pharmacy where the price is the best.
Paper prescriptions are almost impossible for me to get anymore. I wonder if others have this issue. For 7% saline I usually have them send to CVS and if CVS does not have it I use an app to where I want the script transferred. So far this has worked. I could be wrong but I think this is a provision in the ACA (Affordable Care Act).
Medicare B is not likely to cover it unless it is paired with something else like albuterol. I e never figured out how to yet.
In a pinch, without a prescription, Amazon:

I fill my prescriptions at CVS, the first time they rang it up at the insurance Part D rate, so I called and said skip insurance, use GoodRX and that would have been great, but then they found an even better rate. I last paid $6.16 for 90 vials.
